Pitt and the rest of the ACC officially released the 2016 Football Schedule today. While opponents have been known for a while, the dates have not. Let’s take a look!

Sept. 3 | Villanova

Sept. 10 | Penn State

Sept. 17 | at Oklahoma State

Sept. 24 | at North Carolina

Oct. 1 | Marshall

Oct. 8 | Georgia Tech

Oct. 15 | at Virginia

Oct. 27 (Thurs.) | Virginia Tech

Nov. 5 | at Miami

Nov. 12 | at Clemson

Nov. 19 | Duke

Nov. 26 | Syracuse

Obviously the highlights are Penn State on September 10th, at Oklahoma State the following weekend, and at Clemson on November 12th. The worst part of the schedule is back to back away games against likely ranked opponents in Oklahoma State and UNC. The Miami-Clemson back to back on the road isn’t easy either. Unlike 2015, the schedule is front loaded with home games with four of Pitt’s first six games at the friendly confines of Heinz.

Also noteworthy to me is that in 2015, Pitt had to play on a Thursday with a game the prior Saturday, meaning a very short week to repair and recover. Narduzzi openly expressed his opposition to this and now the bye week precedes the Thursday game. I believe teams are allowed to make one request with regards to the schedule and I bet this was what Pitt requested.

My baseless, off the top of my head prediction: 8-4 (5-3). Pitt loses to OK State and UNC on the road, but rebounds to win six of their last eight. The ACC schedule is tougher with Clemson replacing Louisville and and away game at Oklahoma State

Dokish just posted that the defensive line coach at Missouri (who originally got Camp to USC) has left Missouri (after a month there) to take a job with the Philadelphia Eagles. In theory, this should end Camp’s interest in Missouri and be good news for us.

Clemson. Sorry, my bad!

JD – No need to apologize.

“Clempsum” is a perfectly fine way to say & spell that aggie school in the boonies of upstate SC.

Don’t believe me – just ask any Gamecock fan.

Regarding Hudson… Some of these kids just want to get out of the environment they grewup and some have an affinity for certain programs, coaches and the people they meet along the jjourney. Life is all about the choices we make! That is a good thing… We wish you well… Make McKeesport and the WPIAL proud of you

Is Hudson still attending Pitt this weekend. Strange to me but who knows. I am sure others have committed but still visit rivals.

Clempson alumni prefer the pronunciation as clempson. That’s how I have written on here for years.

Would be interesting if Khaleke makes the trip to campus this weekend. Nothing bad can come of that. He has a maturity about him and how he carries himself. My guess is that Duzzi sat with him and said “i understand you are going to make an announcement today and whatever that is, I am fine with it. I would still like you to come to campus this weekend for your visit. We will not pressure you and it would be a great benefit to Pitt and to me if you talk glowingly of our program to those in attendance.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. If at the end of the day, you decide to go to Michigan, my door will be open to you after your red shirt freshman year if you keep your academics in line should you choose to make a change.

Not many other coaches would offer a kid to come home after two years…or his red shirt year at Michigan. I don’t think Khaleke would redshirt at Pitt and that is always a risk due to potential injury. Bodies only have so many hits in them, so the quicker you can get to the league, the better..see Robert Foster.

Wish him well and double wish that Mich continues to get verbals from more db’s.

Maryland was not the football crossover rival, only basketball. If they were then Pitt would have played them in 2013 before Md left for the Big 10. It was always Cuse for football.

Rivalries: Syracuse Pitt and Penn State was a major 3 way rivalry till Pitt collapsed in the 60’s.All three compete in recruiting football and get students from the same areas. For those who say Syracuse is not real competition check the final scores of the last 2 yrs— and the S is in down years. From my years at Pitt in the 50’s the hot rivalries were PS, ND, and Syracuse in that order. In my senior year we walked out of monday classes an tied up Oakland all morning after knocking off first undefeated ND then undefeated PS to finish the season. WVU had not become enough of aregular threat to Pitt yet. Hope the hot recruits roll in with regularity and we can get back to where ew were playing a national schedule and winning. Oh and Pitt stomped Duke in 60 and lost to USC while beating UCLA all things are possible.I also remember 61,000 for an opening loss to Oklahoma while 38,000 fans were watching the Pirates at Forbes Field all at the same time. All things are possible. We need to pack Heinz Field for every game.
