Just a couple little things.

He never saw the field because he couldn’t get out of bed and did not even get to El Paso, but Ronald Hobby is trying to start fresh at Liberty. Good luck with that.

The countdown clock to the first game is running. Why they don’t have a simple little widget of this for people to grab, post and promote is beyond me.

Panther Rants is back to posting.

The Pitt Consortium section of the blogroll has been updated to add The First Church of Fitzgerald and Eye of a Panther.

Do not confuse recent Pitt verbal Dan Schneider with this Dan Schneider.

The iCarly movie stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, Jennette McCurdy as Sam, Nathan Kress as Freddie and Jerry Trainor as Spencer. Victoria Justice guest stars as Shelby Marx and Reed Alexander guest stars as Nevel. “iFight Shelby Marx” is written by Dan Schneider and directed by Steve Hoefer. iCarly is from creator and executive producer Dan Schneider (Zoey 101, Drake & Josh).

There was a Big East Bloggers Pre-Season Poll, and somehow I got left out.  Simply more shenanigans from Rutgers folk.

Alas, I confused recent Pitt verbal Dan Schneider with TV building superintendent Dwayne Schneider.

Doesn’t Dan Schneider own the Redskins? 😉

About a week or two ago, I was reviewing the Pitt commitments of the past 4 years or so on either Scout or Rivals web site, and remember that Jennings was only a 1 star recruit on the one of the sites … and you may remember that the Pitt staff was high on him before he transferred to Liberty.

The other thing I remembered was just how many 3 stars turned out to be really good players including Revis, Blades, McKillop, Sessions, Flacco, Kinder, CJ Davis as well as M Williams, DeCicco, Mustakas and Romeus … and I’m leaving some out. I believe this is relevant in that the 2010 class is loaded with 3 star recruits. As it turns out, many times a 3 star is one with potential that just hadn’t fully developed yet.

Any thing on the new Uniforms? they atleast keeping the Pitt on the helmet and not the ugly cat again?

Did anybody happen to watch the #1 Cochran Sports Show Down last night? Well I just have to rant about an individual who I think needs to shut his fat baldhead up and stop hating PITT.

If anyone can explain why Joe Bendell has it out with PITT all the time let me know. What really frustrates me about him is one minute he will say negative about Pitt, then complete flip flop his comment to the other view just to make it look like he’s trying to speak the other side, when he’s not.

I’m outraged that this ass hole that works in my city, and follows my alma mater takes shoots like that. I think we, as PITT fans need to start calling him and others like him out. Its one thing to follow and call it like it is, but to rant your opinion and hate on the local University is not right. Its almost as if he’s trying to sawn away the yinzers who ride the Penn State bandwagon so PITT wont get them or any.

If anyone can explain this ass clowns deal Id really like to know. And also lets call him out cause I’m not going to stand for his bull shit this year at all!

mike, if i remember right the players typically wear their jerseys to the conference media day. since pitt hasn’t officially unveiled them, however, it’s possible the guys will be wearing last year’s jersey. i’m hoping they brought the new ones with them cuz i’m sick of waiting to see what they’ll look like. when we get pictures of either tonight’s clambake or tomorrow’s interviews we’ll know.

Jon:

Thanks for that info RE: the uniforms. I believe that now that Nike is the official sponsor of Pitt athletics (again) players cannot wear Adidas gear to official events. I am anxious to see them as well. Heck, I’d even take a mock up of them and not the actual jerseys….

jcs an jon, thanks for the info on the uni’s, cant wait to see em.
Hail to Pitt!

I realize that uni talk amongst us Pitt faithful is about as old as time itself, but I seriously hope Nike can stitch up some decent attire for us.

Script-Pitt talk aside (I loved it like no other…), the Pitt apparel has for the most part been attrocious. Between multiple versions of what our panther is supposed to look like and dull designs you wouldn’t even buy for your mother, I feel like any one of us could design better apparel.

Uniforms specifically, I can’t understand if it’s the athletic company’s poor styling or Pitt’s suits just getting in the way.

Does anybody know the process?

Cool Hand:

Trust me, I’ve sketched so many mock ups of the way I’d like the uniforms to be, but I digress. Here’s hoping they are an improved look. The aesthetics have not been up to snuff IMO. I do not mind the block PITT look, but please, stop the drop shadowing of everything and put a stripe back on the helmet….

“Tucker’s still talking about rookie Eagles back LeSean McCoy’s blitz-pickup ability.”

Good to hear!

Haven’t listened to Bendel in a while but always thought he was pro-Pitt. What did e say? Guess I won’t be listening to him soon .. and he is the ony local regular show on the station that carries Pitt!

Noticed that the top 40 college ESPN poll is headed by PSU so their fans are swamping the net. Surprised that Pitt is holding its own since many Nit fans may be exluding the Panthers.

Comment by w Bill 08.03.09 @ 8:12 pm

Good call on the Schneider, apostles! Pat Harrington fans unite!

If I recall correctly, on the Sports Showdown the only Pitt topic was the passing of Michigan on the schedule. I can’t agree with Pitt on this one; if you have a chance to schedule Michigan you do it. No ifs and buts.

You do bring up a larger issue – this has got to be the only college town where the local media hates the home team. Bendel is by far not the most egregious. Ron Cook would rather praise Charles Manson before Pitt.

Comment by Chuck Morris 08.04.09 @ 5:15 am

None of us really know what went on with the whole Michigan scheduling situation. Why does everyone assume we simply turned them down? There could be a lot more to it than that.

Comment by Panther Mike 08.04.09 @ 7:50 am

as far as the michigan game or utah, id rather play utah, michigan has the name, but what have they done lately, utah finished #2 in the country last yr and it seems every yr they are a top 10 team. at this point im for utah, maybe 5 yrs down the road id be for michigan.
