Well, Tommie Duhart does not have to worry about being in Coach Dave Wannstedt’s doghouse any longer.  The senior is joined by another senior, in T.J. Porter who has had two DUI in less than a year. Both have been dismissed from the team.

Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt has dismissed two seniors — defensive tackle Tommie Duhart and receiver T.J. Porter — from the Panthers’ football program.

Both players will transfer, according to a statement released by the university’s athletic department. A Pitt spokesman said Wannstedt will have no further comment on the issue.

As the brief story from the P-G notes, “this announcement is not a surprise.”

Both Porter and Duhart were suspended from spring practice. The fate of two other late spring suspendees — Wayne Jones and Aaron Berry — remain unresolved at this time.

Man, that was quick. It didn’t take long to remove their names from Pitt’s official media site.

Porter should have been booted immediately after his second DUI. This is not PSU where a senile pants-pooping coach looks the other way.

Re: my post. Their names were probably deleted when they first were suspended.

The good news is that Pitt is very deep at both DT and WR. The bad news is that both shown much potential as sophomores (and Porter for some of his junior season) but apparently lost focus.

I think Aaron Berry is vastly underappreciated. He always drew one-on-one assignments against the best receivers and received little help from the safeties … mistakes by cornerbacks are much more subject to exposure. Remember, he did make 2nd team all Big east.

Is making 2nd team in the BE really that big of a deal – I mean there are only 8 teams, 2 of which stunk last year. So, basically for him to be 2nd team, he has to be better than 5 others at his position.

Up at the State Penn, these guys would just have to clean up Section EG rows 32-38 at the Beav and they would be back on the team.
