Zeise v2.0 Commits to Pitt

North Allegheny’s Elijah Zeise called the coaches this morning to inform them of his commitment. Zeise projects to WR or Safety at the next level and one of the key reasons he’s going to Pitt is the staff’s desire to start him off at WR. The 6’2 185 pound verbal is the son of Post-Gazette sportswriter Paul Zeise. Paul used to be the Pitt beat writer before requesting an assignment elsewhere so there would be no image of bias from him with regards to Pitt.

This is a great pickup on numerous levels. Paul Zeise isn’t a random Dad. He knows Pitt, college football, and the coaches intimately. While I don’t doubt he let Elijah be his own man, you better believe no father in his right mind would let his son commit to coaches he didn’t respect. Secondly, Zeise is a desired player. He has offers from Arizona, WVU, Temple (Dad’s alma mater), as well as interest from Duke and Purdue. Zeise also considered a few FCS programs mostly for academic reasons. He’s a 3 star player on Rivals, ESPN, and 247.

Zeise easily fits the mold of a Chryst recruit. There’s a reason he was considering Dartmouth and Cornell; he’s a bright kid. Academics played a big part in his decision and I don’t have to tell anyone here we’re a top 20 public university in the country. His on field production has been superb as well. He averaged nearly 30 yards per reception as a junior at WR and added 3 interceptions as a DB. He has had receptions of 63, 64, 78, and 94 yards. Don’t let stereotypes fool you: Zeise is fast.

If I can count correctly beyond the 10 digits on my fingers, Zeise is verbal #14 for the 2014 class and the first football verbal since Pitt became an ACC school. Here are his junior highlights.

Summer b-ball starts back up tonight. That should be something to chew on.

Anyone else find it ironic that Dan83, a stickler for combines and 40 times, responds to Claybourne shutting down KJ Williams at a 7-on-7 camp by calling it “underwear football.”

This has become an eclectic thread. Glad to see
these guys have interests outside bashing all things Pitt.

Where are the right wingers bashing the French, would you like freedom fries with that?

Comment by gc 07.08.13 @ 9:04 am

Actually I would say I’m a right winger who loves to bash French politics, etc. But I still love the country, its history and its culture!

But I will never forget sitting in class in France listening to the prof drone on and on about the great history of France and its great history of superiority and its many military conquests and victories… And then I raised my hand and said: “Name one.” lol

And yes, we Pitt fans are a group of diverse interests…

LOL

If you have been paying attention, Bowl Green, you would have noticed the large protests / riots a few weeks back in Paris against same sex marriages. It seems the French aren’t as liberal as thought and/or as they used to be

Upitt,
If you go to Cannes, you can go to the beach while the wife goes to the town where all the perfume manufacturers are. Forget the name of the town but it’s about 15min away from Cannes. She will enjoy it as will you. lol

Thats what I did. My wife came back from the perfume town tour and found me surrounded by topless women laying out at the beach. I told her I was there first and they came and laid down near me. 😉

My wife would have me blindfolded, for certain!

Fall and Spring are best times to visit Europe.. you miss the crowds and it is a lot cheaper… just the weather can be hit or miss.

Yes, forgot about Versailles.. .but that is a good half day trip itself.

the two major musiums, Quay d’Orsay [old railroad station] (were all the impressionists are) and the Louvres are no-brainers and do take a loooong time to go through. If you go to them you just want to be patient and put the time aside for them.

heading south makes sense.

If you are really into wine another route is to head east to the Champagne region (not too far from paris), and then south east over to Bourgogne (Burgundy) and Chablis… easy loop and great vineyards etc.

doable renting a car…. could even head back west through the Loire river valley where all the chateaus are and end up back in Paris.

Hey… need a tour guide…. 🙂

pitt1972,
lol
As they say, when in rome, do as the romans.
My wife actually went topless for about 15min. lol
Laying on the stomach didn’t count!

The best was at lunchtime.
Women came out of the office in skirt, top, etc.
Stripped down to their underwear and tanned themselves. (yep, took their bra off)

Dan83, I believe the perfume town is Grasse.

UPitt, good suggestions by several gents on here. Here’s my gmail if you want some additional details or have questions, ironduke90@gmail.com. Always happy to help out a fellow Pitt fan, even a non-Kool Aid drinker! 😉

Viva La France and Upone and I have more un-dorkines the the DNNP. Also in a personal note I never attended Pitt and got my degrees TN and Singapore. But I must say it was a good tactical ploy on your part to ask questions about France. But as the French say:

mme la vie et je suis votre dork dork monsieur DNNP. Seul un dork comme vous dirais que d’autres sont dans leurs mères sous-sols. Ceci étant le cas le vôtre secousse

I know it’s an American tradition to rag on the French.

However, without French help in the Revolutionary War. We don’t win !

The history teacher, should know about the French Fleet at the Battle of Yorktown. For one. Climatical event of the Revolution ! Not to mention France’s monetary support of the Revolution and the Marquis de LaFayette

Also we’d all be Muslim if it wasn’t for a Frenchman named Charles Martel, or Charles the Hammer as I like. As he led a Frankish army that stopped the Muslim advance into Western Europe at the Battle of Tours, although he was outnumbered 2 to 1.

Vive Le France !

France won because the Moorish army was for the most part cavalry. Calvary are least effective in hills and that is where they fought. Also the Moors were not used to troops as disciplined as Martel’s (Charles) were, colder weather and were laiden with the spoils of war.

The Moors were over confident to say the least henceforth their inability to not only break through Charles’ defenses but unable to consolidate their forces again for more attacks. Having their leader Rahmin killed helped fuel the decision to head back to home.

The victory could have gone either way if the Moors would have taken the time to properly asses Charles’ defenses, troop strength. locations and so forth. Such are the fortunes of war.

France has been lucky to have the USA as a allies. Many, many Americans died liberating France…

@ EMel & Kenny,

Great history discussion! Do you think they have this intelligent of a discussion on WVCC blogs? lol

Whether in sports or in military, nearly all who are victorious can point to some circumstances of luck or fortune just like Charles Martel.

I’ve got no problem with Martel or Charlemagne. Even Napoleon had his moments. But I draw the line with DeGaulle, Foch, and Petain, etc.

And, as a reward for helping us win the Revolution, France only expedited their bankruptcy and fall of the monarchy…

Vive Le France, but Hail to Pitt!

Good posts guys.

The Battle of Tours, was one of the few times in history that infantry alone(The Franks) defeated heavy calvary (The Saracens-Moors).

Charles the Hammer (and his sons, mainly Pepin) was a brilliant leader who would go on to rid southern Gaul of the Moorish invaders. Which eventually led to the Reconquista of Spain.

Charles at Tours picked his choice of the battlefield and had troops that he had trained that were disciplined and they were fighting for their homelands.

As they say, most battles are won before they’re even fought.

@ BG Panther, I agree most assuridely about Foch & Petain. Napoleon was a Corsican so he doesn’t count. lol

HTP !
VeV !

btw the two armies at Tours sat across from each other for 7 days before the main battle.

So it wasn’t like the Moors rushed into an ambush or anything. They had plenty of time to survey the battlefield and the oppostion BEFORE committing their main force.

The Franks were better warriors, plain & simple.
I would imagine they were bigger & stronger than their opposition as well.

Comment by EMel 07.08.13 @ 5:19 pm

Emel if that was the case it would have been prudent for them to do so but as they say “Pride goes before the fall.” This was a classic case for it. The Moors thought they were invincible due to overrunning most if not all whom fought whom stood in their way. They were prideful and I guarantee thought jack in respect to the French…

Comment by Kenny 07.08.13 @ 5:56 pm

Moors? I thought they were the Moops.
