Or something like that. I swear, the reactions to Pitt and Coach Paul Chryst getting the first verbal for 2013 — at least on Twitter — made it seem like a guy in his 20s finally losing his virginity. There was a sense of relief, along with the repeated surprise that it took him that long to close the deal. Especially since everyone knew it would happen. Plus it was over so quickly.

Tight end, Scott Orndoff  had initially committed to Wisconsin in his junior year. Naturally when the entire offensive staff left — mostly for Pitt — he reoponed his recruitment. Add in the fact that Orndoff attends high school in Western PA at Seton-LaSalle, and this was a long-expected verbal.

Orndoff had scholarship offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, Boston College, Michigan, Michigan State and Virginia.

“I’m definitely glad it’s over,” he said. “All the phone calls and visits had taken a toll on me already. I’m glad to be able to focus on my senior year.”

He had returned from a recruiting trip to Michigan before giving his verbal.

Orndoff is a 3-star TE with size. He’s anywhere between 6-5 and 6-6  and around 240 to 250 pounds.

Here’s what Greg Perry, the Seton-LaSalle coach has to say about Orndoff.

“I think with his size, he has a big up side,” Perry said. “He can run. He ran the 200 and 400 in track. He was really competitive in those events the last couple years, too. Now that he has gotten heavier, I don’t know how successful he’ll be with that.  But I think if you look at tape on him, you see once he gets the ball, he’s pretty quick. You can’t teach 6-5, 250 as an 11th-grader, either. He has some athleticism with it, too, and he’s really strong.”

Welcome, Mr. Orndoff

Chryst is now well on his way to becoming a slut.

This is great news, now let’s hope we all calm down a bit and let Coach Chryst do his job. I for one am encouraged by the Mark Meyers story in the PG last week…let’s hope the kid woke up and realized chances like this don’t come around often. But then, I’m totally in the ANYONE BUT TINO crowd, so I really want to see either Meyers or Gonzalez grab the job so that Voytik can redshirt. Hearing Pat Bostick on signing day talk about how playing as a Freshman basically ruined him makes me nervous about ruining Voytick….

my guess that he promised the Michigan people that he would visit beforte committing .. that’s why he took so long

In the past, usually when one committed, a few others seemed to follow quickly. They had some promising recruits visiting practice yesterday .. we’ll see

We saw the results of the sl*! style of Graham, best to use that term only when referring to the real thing.

If anyone thinks Chryst will appeal to the same type of kid as John Calipari, you need to have your head examined. In reality, expect him to fill the personality role somewhere between Joe Paterno and Johnny Majors. If he can coach, then look for alot of substance and little flash.

Thank God for that. God is finally on our side. I know, we spoke the other day. He never said a word about JoePa. God is discreet that way. Does not talk about residents of the “warmer” eternity down below.
