Price Asks For Release from Ohio State

Filed under: Football,Recruiting — Fear the Stache @ 10:32 am

(Hi, hello and welcome to my best impersonation of Chas)

And so the Jim Tressel fallout at Ohio State begins.  News broke last night that former Woodland Hills linebacker Ejuan Price has requested a release from his letter of intent with the university.

Woodland Hills High School linebacker Ejuan Price has seen the turmoil surrounding the Ohio State football program and decided he doesn’t want to play for the Buckeyes.

Price, who signed with Ohio State in February, has requested a release from his letter of intent with the Buckeyes. Woodland Hills coach George Novak said Price requested the release a month ago.

Price, a 4* inside linebacker, had received seven scholarship offers this past year, six of them from B1G Ten and BIG EAST schools.  His final two choices came down to Ohio State and Pitt, which he decided between with a best-of-5 coin flip.

Tied at two, the fifth flip was heads [Ohio State].

“I wanted to make sure my decision was solid,” said Price, a linebacker, who signed Wednesday with Ohio State after much trepidation and a couple of last-minute calls to coaches Jim Tressel and Todd Graham.

I’m not quite sure how flipping a coin is equated with making a solid decision, but Pitt lost that battle.  Will this open him back up for a chance to come back to Pittsburgh with former teammate Lafayette Pitts?  We should find out soon.

[Woodland Hills coach George] Novak said Ohio State is supposed to let Price know Friday whether it will release him.

“He has some ideas, but if he gets his release I’m not sure where he would go,” Novak said.

The Post-Gazette article also incorrectly stated that Iowa was his other top choice with Ohio State.  Many believe that the PG was actually referencing New Jersey linebacker Quinton Alston Jr., who de-committed from Pitt after Mike Haywood’s arrest and committed to the Hawkeyes.

Another “transfer” of sorts for Graham? This would be a huge pickup and Pitt is really in need of LB help.

“I’m not quite sure how flipping a coin is equated with making a solid decision, but Pitt lost that battle.”

The answer should be obvious …. the coin was furnsihed by OSU.

As long as he doesn’t decide to move to Lubbock… I’m still baffled by those decisions.

Comment by Greg in New Orleans 06.16.11 @ 12:01 pm

Greg:

I live in Texas and Lubbock is the last place in Texas and on earth that any rational human being would want to live.

It seems like a few Western Pennsylvania high school football players decided to come out this way and play. I can see the reason to get away from the Pittsburgh area but to go to Lubbock!

Makes you wonder….

Comment by WLAT and the Big Beat 06.16.11 @ 12:10 pm

That is peculiar. Maybe they hit it off with a coach, but, when I saw that..??? Nothing against Texas, love it there, nothing against Lubbock, never been, but, Pittsburgh to Lubbock??? Maybe some ties we don’t know about, but, definitely peculiar.

The gold on the site is over-riding the blue, so, can’t see your name or where you are from, may be just my computer, but, nice info to start off your Chas’ impersonation.

I love summer, but, can’t help it, my blood’s pumping for early September allready.

Good job!!

Not urprisingly, Pitt has lost many recruiting battles to Ohio State in recent years. Maybe not getting G Money Pryor will actually land Pitt more recruits in the future now that Ohio State is crumbling.

Although I hear some Pitt players may be involved in a memorabilia scheme where they are trading for Primanti Brothers Pastramis and large pepperonis from the O.

When I was in school, the players traded memorabilia for malt liqours from Winners.

When I was in school the players traded memorabilia for meatballs from Chi Chi Quinques.

Fred (comma) tell me where there shouldn’t be one (comma) and I’ll accept your jibe.

I guess you prefer run-on sentences that go on and on and never stop but thats ok because maybe were getting a recruit from ohio st oh boy that would be great hopefully he can play right away because we could use a defensive back I can’t wait till football season to start allthough I love summer I still cant wait for the first weekend in september that leads me to another point what a great hoops coach we have in Jamie Dixon hopefully we can have a top 10 basketball and football program in the future wouldnt that be wonderful when i went to school it was the 40s too allthough may have went for the french fries cant beat them so anyhow FRED do you have anything else to add about this post other than someone trying to use correct punctuation so he doesnt sound like a total moron i didnt know the punctuation police patrolled this site had I known I never would have used a comma or broken my thoughts up into paragraphs to make it easier for people to read I do apologize for that critical mistake so again FRED anything to say about the decommitt of the osu player I hope you do accept my apology my sincere apology for offending your reading comprehension i will try not to do it in the future has this been better for you to read and comprehend i wish someone would tell me when to stop because FRED doesnt seem to like correct english again my deepest utmost sincere apologies FRED hope to see you again on this board your comments about the articles are non stop reading cant put it down you really added to this section hope to hear from you again did i apologize yet if i didn’t FRED again just my heartfelt apology perhaps if you had stayed in school you could be somewhat literate instead of just speaking in jibberish with run on sentences that dont make any sense i hope this has been better for you

ASS CLOWN could you read that??????????? LMAO!!!

Comment by Dan 06.16.11 @ 5:12 pm

Fred, are you really Anthony Weiner? LOL

Comment by Dan 06.16.11 @ 5:18 pm

Dan, don’t you mean to say, “Fred, are you, really, Anthony Weiner,,,,”?

Comment by Dr. Tom 06.16.11 @ 6:03 pm

Dan,

I appreciate your use of the comma, but there are a few places where you have misused it in your post.

For instance, “I love summer, but, can’t help it, my blood’s pumping for early September allready.”. Would be more grammatically correct if composed as follow: “I love summer. I can’t help it. However, my blood’s pumping for early September already.”

I wonder how many of you are old enough to remember Prof Peterson teaching English comp. A great teacher and wonderful man. (Back in the 50’s, 60’s and I believe in to the early 70’s).

Comment by isnore 06.16.11 @ 7:28 pm

Steve–Can tell your an old fart like me. Quinque’s–>meatball subs and Bud longnecks–those were the days!! He always got a call to tip him off when the LCB was on its way, as i recall.

Comment by pitt1972 06.16.11 @ 7:32 pm

pitt1972, you’re spot on. Nothing like a plate of meatball parmigiane as an afternoon snack. More underage beer drinkers inhabitated the joint than legal ones. And it was a hangout for football players as well. Right across the street from Forbes Field.

Chi Chi was…hopefully still is…a great guy.

And isnore, old fart that I am, of course I remember Prof Peterson. Didn’t he teach English 80 on Saturday mornings?

When I played we dated girls from pizza hut and DQ for the perks

Comment by 63 Team 06.16.11 @ 11:41 pm

Fanew3, you are incorrect. This is a blog and I type it, like I would be speaking to you directly.
As in having a conversation, therefore, comma’s are very appropriate.

In Chas’s posts, they would not be, because he is speaking to us, not having a conversation.

Comment by Dan 06.17.11 @ 8:50 am

No, Dr. Tom, it should have been, “Fred, are you really a dick?”

Comment by Dan 06.17.11 @ 8:52 am

Holly Cow Eujan Price would be Pitt’s top linebacker if we can get him! transfers Price and running back from Wisconsin Zach Brown OMG Look out!!0-2 maybe 11-1 and 12-0 are possible Its just keeps getting better Come on Mark Myers we got the horses NOW!!!!! Tinko and Mark Myers Reminds me of QB Rick Trocano (Tinko Sunseri) and back-up Dan Marino (Mark Myers) Now i am not comparing mark Myers to dante marino Just Sayin’

Used to walk down Cardiac Hill to Quinque’s for the meat balls. Makes my mouth water, still.
