That whole Indiana-Pitt game tomorrow at Madison Square Garden is going to be a battle between rebuilding teams. The Hoosiers are coached by the still hateable Tom Crean.

Catch a podcast about the game between Galen of CrimsonCast.com and myself. I explain to Galen exactly why and how long Pitt’s hatred for Crean goes back. It was a good hire for the Hoosiers, but I still hate that guy.

Here’s a direct link to the audio file.

from watching Pitt on Thursday night and watching Nova alst night, it looked like a high school team in its 1st game against a major college team in mid February.

Before last season, 6’11 Zeke Marshall from McKeesport spurned a Pitt offer to go to Akron, and thus far, has played fairly well .. the latest against Texas A&M, a pretty good team. Just how much could we use him now?

Wbb – I was at the Pitt game friday where we set a record for least points in a half. I was also at the Nova v drexel game last week in Phila and I can tell you the score with 7:50 seconds left in the first half was Nova 10 – Drexel 0. Nova went on to blow them out in the second half but they didn’t “look like a major college team that night”. Its early in the season and what any team is now is not what they will be in March. Certainly Nova’s upside is far greater than Pitt’s, but comparisons at this point are pointless.

Great point, TMg. It was only a few weeks ago that Syracuse lost to Le Moyne (I know it was exhibition, but COME ON). Hopefully Pitt can put some points on the board for a national audience.

If not, I will be reminding myself of better times with whiskey and Sam Young highlights.

Ah, yes, Chas and his venerable hatred for all things Indiana. I got news for ya, folks, it ain’t that basketball what started it. It was a woman. Back in the day. Ah, youth!

TMgP, I was unaware of the Nova-Drexel game as you pointed out. But just consider my perspective … I see Pitt struggling against a lower-tier team game setting a record for futility, and the very next game I watch 2 nights later was a polished Nova team score 95 points against a ranked Maryland team at the Capitol Center!

I do expect Pitt to play up to their competition as they did against Texas … but no doubt that we spoiled Pitt fans willave to be very patient this year.

Is Dokish accusing Pitt of not trying to recruit Top 50 talent? Yes, UNC, Kansas, UCLA,etc. constantly recruits Top 50 talent … but Pitt is often a consideration. I don’t believe that it isn’t for a lack of effort on Dixon’s part.

This calendar year, Pitt just missed a Final 4 appearance and a BCS Bowl by a total of 3 points … without getting the best recruits in either sport. Yes, maybe if we had one more top recruit in each sport, we would have reached the summit in both cases …. but I doubt that it isn’t for a lack of effort by either coaching staff.
