I think our defense is stigmatized by its recent history of foul troubles. Yes, defense will improve because no one is in foul trouble.
Jermaine Dixon makes me happy. He has given Wanamaker and Gibbs time to develop further. Once he shaved his head, his game improved drastically. I suppose his brother’s advice helped too, whatever.

Few commnets: Biggs has been burned on the switch-off a couple of times…Vaughn is real quick and hoppy. Great athlete… Jermaine Dixon looks great…But yeah, why was Brown pulled? Are we back to the strange Coach Dixon substitution patterns from a couple of years ago?…Blair and Sammy look good. Blair never seems to be too fazed or too frustrated. Good half. 72% shooting? Sweet.

Great article in NYT magazine about the importance of Shane Battier’s defense and intelligence in winning games.
His main objective in guarding jump shooters is to get his hand in front of the shooter’s eyes.
And I learned that the 3 point shot from the corner is the most efficient shot, at least in the NBA.
What’s everyone’s opinion on how Thabeet will impact Monday’s game? Do we have an answer for his presence? Can we get him in foul trouble? What’s the plan?

Actually the article I referred to indirectly focused on Thabeet. Statistics show that it’s not shot-blocking, per se, that contributes. It’s shot-blocking AND ball recovery that matters much more.
With Blair’s great hands and ball control (remember his ping pong games with himself @ DePaul?), he’s got the edge. I hope.
just heard an interview on local Pgh radio with guy who runs RPI.com, and he said the consensus is that Pitt would be a No. 1 seed (barring a collapse of course)
the other thing he said, which I found amusing, was that Penn St would not be considered because they played the worst out-of-conference schedule … no further commentary necessary
