Movie Time: The Celebration

I’m still pumped after the win, which I expect will carry through at least the next few days. The game ended over 18 hours ago but I still feel great. Probably the two best YouTube videos you will ever see as a Pitt fan:

On-field and Locker Room Celebrations

Doing The Soulja Boy

You know…the “Soulja Boy“.

I’ve already watched those five times apiece — makes me feel great.

this one is better:

“It’s great for the university, great for the state. It allows us to prove to the rest of the nationa what we already know — that we’re a Class A institution and a class program.”

President of that toilet….before they took a shit. Keep living in denial….”good school”….”national championship”….

I bet his trailer is the nicest one though…

Scoocher, I already linked to that one — it’s the first link up there.

that gave me chills. what a way to end the football season!

I still haven’t watched a minute of NFL football today. That win last night was THAT good!

I know some of our seniors weren’t the best, but every kid that goes to college to play ball deserves a sendoff like that in what is possibly their last organized football game their senior year.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of going to grad school, and looking at a few grad programs around the country. I now think I know where I want to go the most. That win was THAT good.

nice article on espn.com

Comment by Rex 12.02.07 @ 6:16 pm

Thanks Rex. That ESPN article is great. This game will haunt WVU for 100 years!!!! and we need to make sure that they never forget it.

Comment by TMGPanther 12.02.07 @ 6:35 pm

The changes have started at Louisville

Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe released defensive coordinator Mike Cassity, and offensive coordinator Charlie Stubbs resigned on Sunday just days after the Cardinals stumbled to a 6-6 season.

Comment by TMGPanther 12.02.07 @ 6:41 pm

I LOVED the “riot” in Oakland! Wish I were a student again!! People are all “fired” up!! I love it! WVU will NEVER win a National Championship beacuse when it counts, they CAN’T beat PITT! They will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER win a National Championship, thanks to PITT. I hate those hillbillies! I can’t wait to go back in 2 years. We need to get T-Shirts made that are GOLD with BLUE lettering on it that just say: 13-9. RR’s tombstone should read 13-9!! What a GREAT day!

HAIL TO PITT

Who needs Penn St.

Comment by alcofan 12.02.07 @ 7:43 pm

Penn St WHO?

Comment by nuton 12.02.07 @ 7:45 pm

I’d still rather beat both their asses once per season.

12-0
13-9

Fuck them both.

Please someone post a link to:

The Rich Rodriguez post game press conference. I missed it last night and I want to keep it for ever and always.

Stuart, remember our deal, we will meet at the opener in 2008!

Comment by The Devil 12.02.07 @ 9:42 pm

Hey- what are the effects of this HUGE WIN on the program? We should be on the cusp of a top 25 ranking next year.

On note about the game -Man… I love the fact that our defense at the end of the 3rd quarter sprinted to the other end of the field. At that moment WVU was beaten

Our boys were fired up.. i hope this HUGE WIN carries over to off season worksouts, landing strong recruits and confidences going into 2008.

HAIL TO PITT

Just watching this makes you realize just how much Pitt needs a stadum on Campus…wow I remember back in 87 when Pitt beat Penn State (Nov 14th) helped to tear down goal post took my brother out to a bar to celebrate his 21st b-day

When I get the chance to go Heinz when I get in town it just is missing that magic…

great to see and it proves what I have been thinking for a while now…this fan base is just dying for a success story

Here’s to hoping that last night is the first step towards that story

If Stull really is the answer at QB, and the kids play the same inspired brand of football we saw last night, and we’re not crippled by injuries, we could be looking at a 10 win season…there won’t be a team we can’t beat on the schedule.

Those are 3 really big ifs though…i’d be most disappointed if we didn’t get the same inspired brand of all-out football we saw yesterday. It was amazing to watch…over and over again…

Comment by Stuart 12.03.07 @ 1:24 am

Does anyone know if t-shirts are being made for the win?

I posted previously that Pitt needs to play with more emotion and spirit to be successful. If Saturday’s win didn’t prove that point nothing will. Much of WVU’s success has been linked to playing with heart and emotion. Pitt took that from them this weekend, and we all know the results. I must commend Wanstedt for emotionally charging his troops. Hopefully, this will be something that occurs more than once a year, or the team will never reach the heights we all want them to. Walt Harris put emotional football to bed during his tenure at Pitt, but if Saturday is any indicator, Wannstedt intends to rekindle the fire. But please Dave recruit a QB!!!!!

Comment by lcole 12.03.07 @ 2:08 am

lcole, this wasnt the only example of DW’s team being emotionally ready. They could have easily laid down and quit early in the year but they have battled to the very end in just about every game. In that sense I was proud of them. It just seemed like inexperience and bad breaks got in our way. Just think if a few plays, or calls went our way this year – we’re heading to a bowl.

MI State, Navy, Louisville, Rutgers…… we are right on the verge of breaking through.

Comment by Rex 12.03.07 @ 7:19 am

This was really the first time i saw DW get emotional on the sidelines. He was yelling at guys and jumping around. Normally i watch him and he just looks confused and quiet like he is just a spectator. I liked it, and i hope it continues

Comment by Adam 12.03.07 @ 10:58 am

To quote from Rex…

MI State, Navy, Louisville, Rutgers…… we are right on the verge of breaking through.

I totally agree…and this is why I did criticize DW for not getting an experienced Jucco kid to backup Stull.

If we even split those 4 games we are heading to a bowl at 7-5.

I don’t want to rain on this parade…I am ecstatic about this win…I also think the reason DW was more emotional now than he was earlier is that with more PT/experience these kids have…his expectation curve is much higher than it was 4,8 games ago.

One thing I am excited to see/hear is Chas’s assessment of Paul Rhoads…how do you fire a guy that came up with a scheme that completely shutdown that prolific offense…

I was in total agreement that he had to go, but I think its almost impossible to see him get fired now.

My Christmas list:

One DVD of
(1) the pregame discussions giving Pitt absolutely zero chance (Corso, Herbsteit, Fowler especially)
(2)the game itself (Bill Hillgrove calling)
(3)the Pitt victory celebrations and interviews
(4)the Rich Rodriguez press conference (where you could hear Pitt celebrating through the walls as RR nearly loses his shit at the podium)

I’m so damn happy right now, I feel guilty even asking for that much.

Comment by Dan35 12.03.07 @ 1:43 pm

Here are the post game video interviews from the Pitt-WVU game…….Make sure you guys watch Mike Mcglynn interview……He thanks Lou Holtz for the pep talk, and disses Mark May for giving up on Pitt….He also mentions how the refs tried to give the game to WVU……Check out the video its alsome:

DaveD – i don’t think anyone here, Wanny included, would say he hasn’t made some mistakes, in this case, a pretty significant one. But the great part about him is that he learns – he all but admitted this disaster was his fault in his press conference and said adamantly that he would NEVER let it happen again. I’m sure he knows he cost this team a bowl game. I’ve seen him adapt significantly in many areas over the last few years back to the modern college game, including running some “gimmick” offense (which must have eaten him up) at times. And he clearly has an eye for talent when all others have left a kid for dead (Shady).

We get a serviceable QB and the kids play like that every game, watch out…

Comment by Stuart 12.03.07 @ 5:17 pm

Stuart,

Point taken and I don’t disagree with your statement.

I was reluctant to even state the point cause again I didn’t want to diminish the acheivement the Pitt team accomplished this past weekend.

I think my only reason to state so is that our 5-7 record doesn’t do justice of how close this team is to being a bowl team again that’s all.

I really think that 1 ommission alone prevented us from being 7-5 with the possibility of being 9-3.

I was more looking at it optimistically than it probably sounded.

DaveD,

Merry Christmas…..Here is a link to RR’s post game interview, and you can clearly here Pitt players celebrating in a locker room directly behind the podium…..Does anyone have a link to Lou Holtz pep talk?…..The ESPN link does not work……Also, I believe that Pat White through the last pass in the end zone hoping that the REF’s would make another phantom call against Pitt but he through it to far out of bonds….Anyway, enjoy the video.
