Greatest. Analogy. Ever.

From Paul Zeise’s Q&A on page C-2 in today’s Post-Gazette

Q: I actually don’t mind Dave Wannstedt going for the win [vs. Navy]…but a fade to the tight end? Why not to a wide receiver or just run LeSean McCoy?

A: It was refreshing that Dave Wannstedt went against his nature — he even admitted he wasn’t comfortable going for it on fourth down — and went for the win. But you are right, the last two play calls were, well, like a closer giving up a game winning home run because he threw his fourth-best pitch instead of bringing the heat.

The more I think about those last two play calls, the more my anger level rises.

You’re right Dennis – perfect analogy, and COMPLETELY INFURIATING.

Three former pro coaches, Wanny, Grob and B Callahan and three terrible losses. Is their a pattern there? Bad week for Peterson in Lincoln.

With the defensive genius of Paul Rhoads at his side, Wanny was able to deflect blame from his putrid defense and have his offense get blamed for the loss.

All of you Wanny lovers, keep sipping the Kool-Aid!

Two stupid play calls – yes, annoying, dumb. Anyone notice the half a hundred that got hung up on us? Are we really “infuriated” we couldn’t get to 51 points, only scored 45?

Did anyone else pick up on this from the PG on Saturday:

“Wannstedt, however, insists he has not felt any pressure from the school’s administration or key boosters. In fact, he met with chancellor Mark Nordenberg last week about the future and he did again Tuesday before the team’s walk-through practice for the Navy game.

Wannstedt also addressed the issue of him becoming the athletic director and said he has not spoken to the chancellor about it because he has been focused on football.”

I found it very interesting when asked about the AD position, DW says he hasnt asked the chancellor about it…sort of implying that I was thinking about it but havent asked the boss yet. It seems to me that the coach would normally say No, Im not interested.

yes rex i also noticed, does it seem that wanny is a bit slow or has little common sense?

From Peter King on the SI website this Monday morning;

a. What happened to Pitt football? Sheesh.

Comment by Mark 10.15.07 @ 8:33 am

Today, Peter King in his MMQB column notes Pitt football in his Ten Things I Think…what has happened to Pitt football…sheesh.

Not the national exposure we were looking for.
