Dixon On Cold Pizza

Jamie Dixon will be on ESPN2’s Cold Pizza this morning. The show runs from 10 am until noon so I’m not sure what time he’ll actually come on and how long it’ll last but from the commercials I’ve seen during Mike & Mike (hooray for having the day off!) it looks like Dixon is the main guest on today’s show.

If Dixon says anything special, I’ll be sure to update this post with what it is. If/when they ask him about the Panthers, I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’ll keep his words positive. Just a thought…

10:12 am — I guess I never realized how nice it is to have the WWLS cover the Big East. The amount of BET coverage we’re going to see in the next few days is going to be great and it’s already started on Cold Pizza. Jay Bilas says that Georgetown is the favorite to win the BET but if he had to pick another team, it would be Pitt. Dixon hasn’t been on yet but I’m home, I’m bored, and I feel like updating this at my leisure.

11:10 am — They went an hour without mentioning Dixon but rest assured, they just did a little promo for his appearence going into the commercial break.

11:17 am — Dixon finally appears and starts by saying it’s a new season and he believes the Big East can get 8 teams into the NCAA tournament. According to him, Gray definitely lost some rhythm by missing so many practices during his ankle injury but he’s back into the groove with the team.

The Cold Pizza host (already forgot his name…there’s a reason he hosts a show in the middle of the day on ESPN2) brings up free throwing shooting…and then asks Dixon to shot some foul shots on in his suit and tie on the 7 foot basketball hoop in the studio.

The first one he tries with one hand and hits the front of the rim. The second one is with two hands and he sinks it.

dedicate your posts to all the workers out there who cant watch cold pizza….ever……sadness……

i heard that a few of the pitt players are from the nyc area or something like that…maybe they’ll mention that….maybe

Are you sure Dixon isnt appearing on “Cold Team” and not Cold Pizza?

maybe they’ll talk about mark blount – the only pitt player in the NBA – and how he hit 3 3pt’ers in the last 2:20 to help beat the lakers last night….that might be more clutch 3’s then our team has hit in 3 weeks…….

We did hit 8 out of 16 threes against WVU last week, and for most of the year we were shooting over 42% behind the arc. Let’s be realistic about this team and Dixon. We don’t have anyone except possibly Gray who would start on NC, Kansas, UCLA, etc. It willl be tough to win against better talent if we don’t make our outside shots. That being said, I like Dixon. This is a guy with no prior head coaching experience who has been able to take teams with average talent and win 80% of his games, and reached 100 wins faster than a lot of coaches, so he must be doing something right. Would it really be better for him to say these guys couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, and maybe they shoould feel free to inbounds the ball without turning it over, and hit their FT’s–he doesn’t criticize his players publicly, and I think that should be applauded.

I bet Pitt still couldnt hit free throws on a 7-foot hoop.

anybody have ideas as to where we can watch/listen to the BEt on the internet for free?

Maybe on each individual team’s websites they have a link to where you can listen?

Not positive though.

I don’t think you can get the BET online unless you have ESPN360.

For what its worth, one of the better investments that I’ve made was the purchase of a Slingbox about a year and half ago. I have my Slingbox hooked up to my cable at home, which lets me access my home cable TV services from any computer in the world that has broadband service. I’m sitting here at my work computer right now, working on a grant, with the Nova/DePaul game playing in a window on the upper right of my screen.

They even have slingerplayer software that runs on my PDA (Dell Axim/Windows Mobile) that lets me watch TV on my PDA when I have wireless internet service available.

If you’re chained to your desk during March, and love Basketball, its definately a nice toy to have.
