Sorry to be quiet the last couple of days. Visiting family this weekend. Did manage to make time to listen to the game. Makes me feel foolish (or seem like Lou Holtz) for worrying so much about this game. Pitt took advantage of Toledo mistakes and put this game away early.
As nice as it was to have Dickerson get some action and score on his very first touch, there is a big negative out of this game. Senior Right Guard John Simonitis’ season and career at Pitt is over. He has a broken leg.
Freshman Joe Thomas will start in his place and Jason Pinkston — who played today — will also see a lot of action. The problem is that the depth on the O-line was already shaky. This is a huge loss for Pitt.
Any status on Blades?
Tough road game next week at Cuse. They will have confidence going into that game after winning three in a row.
Something to look at, UVA beat Wyoming by 1 at home earlier this year, Syracuse beat Wyoming by 6 at home yesterday.
I know this is not a good point by comparing UVa, SU and Wyoming, but SU like UVA has problems and this is a road game we can win.
O-Line is thin but Joe Thomas was a nationally ranked player coming out of high school, let’s see what he can do.
4-1 is a nice start, the season has a long way to go, let’s take them one at a time.
Palko is having the kind of completion percentage that I would expect someone to have playing catch in thier backyard. Unbelievable (in a good way.)
If nothing else, it’s safe to say we are better than last year.
The feeling with this PITT team is that things are coming together and every game has taught them something (even the loss). I think DW is doing very well at putting the right personnel on the field at the right time. I’ll bet Thomas does well, and that Pinkston will do OK with his switch if called on. That’s the essence of teamwork – and we saw an example of that with Dickerson wanting to get on the field even at this late date in the season. To me, that’s an unselfish act when he knew he could sit out and get a full season as a redshirt. I know there’s a lot of discussion about that – but I like the way it was handled.

Maybe coming out of JC he could start right away. These Florida kids love Wanny. Here’s hoping we hear more good news soon on the recruiting front. I’m starting to wish I lived in PGH again so I could actually see the Panthers play, and meet some of you guys at a tailgate. The future really looks bright for this program.
Did anyone happen to see the Oderick Turner sign in the upper deck the last two games? I proudly take ful credit for that one. It was great, we took it down to the tunnel right after the game ended and he came over. Hes a nice guy, ended up getting his armbands he wore during the game.
I saw the note on Poteat, did anyone else notice last week that Charles Spencer went down and I think is out for the season. Thats a shame because he was a real solid player for the Texans.
