Cuse Game Watch in the Plex

The Pitt alumni in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area have established a new Pitt Club, and are trying to get the word out. They have a Facebook page and Twitter account.

This Saturday, they are holding a gathering to watch the game.

Since the game is a nooner on the East Coast, the event kicks off at 10am:

Frankie’s Sports Bar and Grill
2516 South Stemmons Freeway
NEC Hwy 121 & I-35E
Lewisville, Texas 75067

If you are down there, definitely drop in. Frustrating season, to be sure, but if the liveblogs have taught me anything. It’s that misery loves company.

Not sure how many of you guys are on Twitter, but it must be one hell of a media scrum today as Zeise, Jerry DiPaola and Chas Alexcih are making for some entertaining lunch reading.

Per Zeise on Twitter: “#Pitt defensive tackle Chas Alecxih on Mike Haywood ‘he was a jackass and he wore the worst suit I’ve ever seen.'”

Jerry DiPaola corroborates: “Pitt’s Chas Alecxih’s first impression on Michael Haywood: ‘He was a jackass and it looked like he got his suit from Goodwill.'”

Both also tweeted that Alexcih believes Pitt got it right with Graham, for whatever that’s worth. Alexcih has proven to be a pretty unfiltered guy when it comes to dealing with the media, so it’s probably safe to assume he speaks for at least a good portion of the team here.

Last and most importantly, Zeise tweeted this in regards to the QB situation next year: “Coach Todd Graham says the Panthers are open to a one-year quarterback for next year – similar to Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson.”

Apparently, Zeise will address this further in the next Redshirt Diaries post.

Thanks Chas!

not too many Russell Wilsons out there .. his case like Zac Brown’s case where there is immediate eligibility is few and far between. Maybe there is a JUCO out there somewhere

Dokish mentioned the “one-year” QB idea in his blog too. He threw out one name — a QB from Ore.St. — although just as an example, not as a likelihood.

Fifth year QB’s for hire:

BTW, Alexcih has tunred out to be one heck of a walk-on. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he was drafted next year .. or at least is brought into an NFL camp

just so you know Dakota Conwell is best known as adual threat QB after voytik signs i would not be suprised if Dakota is moved from LB back to QB just saying some thing to think on

Comment by FRANKCAN 11.29.11 @ 1:53 pm

Stoosh, another player confirms. At Haywood’s first (last?) meeting with the players, all he did was yell at them.

Comment by steve 11.29.11 @ 2:09 pm

If you have dish network, they announced that the pitt game will be televised tomorrow at 7pm on channel 152 CBSSN.

I would suggest TG scour the campus’s of Edinboro, Clarion, IUP, W&J as well as the JUCO ranks, for a 1 year QB. For they would be better option, more than likely, than our current option at QB. (not taking into account our 2nd & 3rd string qb’s)

Comment by EMel 11.29.11 @ 2:39 pm

Even though these words were uttered again this week

‘Tino gives us our best option to win’

Really.

(if I hear those words again after this season, I might take some grad classes at UNC just to become a UNC person)

Comment by EMel 11.29.11 @ 2:42 pm

Tino is unfortunately still the best option this year, but next year is a different story. I don’t think you’ll hear Graham uttering those words in 2012. God I hope that’s the case.

God Bless you guys down in Texas, for picking the week of the Sloppy Joe O’Brady Bowl Derby for launching your Dallas Pitt Club.

If you can stomach that game, you will be able to stomach just about anything. (er I forgot you guys have Rick Perry as Gov.) haha

Comment by EMel 11.29.11 @ 2:53 pm

EMel how are you.
have you ever hard that there is a lot in a name
if there is a name that sounds like a great QB it woud be this kid Dakota Conwell who knows
Virtus et DECUS

Comment by FRANKCAN 11.29.11 @ 3:26 pm

Good Frankcan, hope you’re well too.

Agree Dakota sounds more like a QB than Tino. But then again so does Chad, Pat, Trey or Mark. haha

In fact this might be the last Tino that ever plays QB again, and hopefully (though I doubt it) will be the last Tino game.

Veritas et Virtus

HTP !

Comment by EMel 11.29.11 @ 3:45 pm

I know it should be Veritas et Rectum but i wanted to say the outher ever sence i saw the movie .
have a good day EMel and may we have a new QB next year so that we dont go nuts if i hear next year that tino is the QB i am done with pitt football.

Comment by FRANKCAN 11.29.11 @ 3:51 pm

TX Panther, I will be there on Saturday, look me up if you attend.

Comment by Jim from Dallas 11.29.11 @ 3:52 pm

Just be sure to ask TX Panther about his lack of memory from the ’97 Backyard Brawl.

Comment by Chas 11.29.11 @ 3:55 pm

EMel are you sure it is veritus et virtus not veritas rectum or veritas sanctimonia

Comment by FRANKCAN 11.29.11 @ 3:58 pm

LOL, Frank…..sometimes I wonder.

The latter two might apply to Phile State though.

Comment by EMel 11.29.11 @ 4:18 pm

Steve,

I heard that same exact thing as well. Heard it was just as bizarre as when he came in and started spouting off about Freddie Krueger in his introductory press conference.

That aside, I was grudgingly supportive of the hire until I heard how he dealt with the holdover assistant coaches from Wannstedt. Complete lack of class. I know he didn’t owe those guys anything, but there’s something to be said for professional courtesy, especially when you just got down talking about the image you want your kids to project.

Let’s just say his handling of those guys was about as sloppy as the suit Alexcih described.

Comment by Stoosh 11.29.11 @ 4:45 pm

Could a PA transplant in Tulsa join the DFW Pitt Club? Have fun guys – hope to join ya someday.
