Win Ben Kline’s Money

Had to be done.

New linebacker commit for Pitt. Ben Kline out of Dallastown, PA. He’s a 3-star, but had a lot of suitors — Michigan, WVU, Rutgers, Maryland, BC and more.

Like Pitt’s other verbal from the weekend, Kline is better right now against the run than the pass (insider subs).

Has the ability to play downhill and stack the inside run; moves through traffic well, taking good angles to the ball. We like this guy’s pursuit habits and motor; can make big plays and create havoc in the backfield. Flashes pass rushing skills off the edge; comes from the flat to contain and pressure the QB off the edge; can apply pressure with a good closing burst. All areas of pass coverage will need refinement and although we like his athleticism he appears to have some lower body stiffness which may affect his coverage ability in man situations.

At 6-3, he has good size. His weight is around 215 at this point, but that obviously will be improved after he gets into a collegiate training program.

Ah, Ben Stein.

A must-watch FASB-financed video launched I’d say 3 months before worldcomm/enron/et al hit the fan, hosted by Stein and entitled “Financially Correct.”

It extolled the virtues of corporate financial statements. Need I say more?

Pitt already has 2 more LB recruits than all of last year.

Wannstedt was interviewed on Paul Zeise’s radio show on Saturday with no big news except:

1) he said that Pitt is getting much more interest from potential recruits than in the past,
2) they will probably sign less than 20 commits this year, and
3) Zeise revealed after the interview that he expects a handful of verbal commits in the next week or so … 2 already have.

Steve You win my most random post of the year. Isn’t this a sports blog? Please check your political views at the door.

FTM, before I rant, please let me know you’ve gotten Chas’s allusion. What does “Win Ben Kline’s Money” have to do with Ben Stein?

Comment by Steve 06.07.10 @ 8:44 pm

Steve, I get the reference to Win Ben Stein’s Money. I’m not tardy on the uptake. It just appeared to me like an opportunity to make a politcal point on a sports blog. My apologies for enciting you to rant.

FTM, no rant forthcoming. But, c’mon, “random?” Also my viewpoint on Stein has nothing to do with politics.

Finally, before my bedtime…which comes early for us alta cacas…I think diversions on this blog are not only accepted but healthy. Right Chas?

Diversions are fine, IMO, and just because Ben Stein happens to be conservative doesn’t mean a joke can’t be made at his expense about his love affair with corporations and their (often faulty, incomplete, downright untruthful) financial statements. Those on both sides of the political spectrum share that same affliction.

On another important subject: still no freakin’ word on J.J. Moore??!!

Anyone else see Ben Kline making a move to D-line or maybe even O-line? 6-3 215 as a 17 yr old….

Comment by PantherProto 06.08.10 @ 3:31 pm

PantherProto I read that as, “Anyone else see Ben Stein making a move to D-line or maybe even…”.
