Navy-Pitt: Open Thread

Days of being without DSL. Now in the midst of moving into a new place and about 15 things that need immediate attention as well. I have this giant HD projector TV, and no opportunity to use it.

Lots of news, and no time to comment.

Just trying to survive. Here’s to a win.

I had a parking pass for Red6 which is directly across from PNC Park. I arrived at 2:30 and it was crowded but there were many open spots and I was allowed in with my Pitt pass no problem. When the pirates ended around 3:30 there was a massive exodus from the parking lot and it was half empty again.

Sorry if others had it worse but I think the whole thing was overblown (this has nothing to do with the G-20 parking lot story)

In Raleigh for the whole weekend. Any ideas of Pitt tailgates or Steeler bars to watch the game on Sunday?

I got into Red7C with no difficulty. Some Preate fans were in “our” spaces but they were nice enough to wait to leave until we brought our cars in range to pounce on the spots as they left. Still poor planning.

As far as the game – a win is a win.

I am looking forward to hitting the road to Raleigh this weekend! It should be an interesting game.

I know it was already mentioned on here that Grothe is out for the year. I also saw last night that ND wideout Michael Floyd is done for their regular season with a broken collarbone. Word is he’d be healed up for a bowl game, but it looks like he’s done for the year. I don’t like to see anyone get hurt, but he was on a tear through the first few games and with ND on the schedule this year, it could make that game a little more winnable.

I feel bad for Grothe to a point. USF is playing Florida State this weekend and also has to play Miami later this year. This FSU game is a huge non-conf. game for the Big East. Given that the conference is in this seemingly never-ending battle for respect among the other power conferences, I do like to see these other Big East programs having success in their non-conf. schedules.

I finally made it to Heinz for the initial time this season. Our small Columbus contingent is on a “high”. The team looks good. Bill Stull is being vindicated. Mason looks like seasoned pro. I could ramble on and on:Baldwin, Hynoski, etc. We could have run up the score in the final minutes, but Sunseri took knees. That was classy. Who wants to make a service academy look bad. In short, a good time was had by all of us transplanted Panthers. Thankyou, coaching staff for a superb job. Now somebody wakeup the media. George from Columbus

Any more college football is becoming a fraud. It’s all about what conference is the biggest, and makes the most money, even though a so-called big boy conference team (like Purdue, Northwestern, and Maryland) suck. I’m absolutely discussed with eh current set up of a great past time that quite frankly is becoming a big fraud.

What make the college bball system great is a small team say Gonzaga can beat a so-called big boy and get the respect they deserve. But when a program with a lot of tradition and history cant crack the top 25 is outrageous, when Washington who went win less last year is now getting votes, and Florida State is back in. People this is the definition of BULL SHIT. Because we play in an 8 team league where the drive bye sports writers think they know it, where not ranked. If we win Saturday and where still not ranked I’m seriously thinking of getting a nation wide petition to change not only the BCS crap, but to also fix the major conferences as well.

I would love to be ranked… but I kind of like playing with a chip on my shoulder.

I do think its a little media bias on why no big east team was ranked….but does pitt deserve to be ranked ? I don’t know.. jury is still out. I think that sun bowl has remained in the voters head.

One can argue how is penn st number 5… based on who they played… but based on last season and the consistency they have had for the last few years… i can understand it.

Pitt needs to be consistent for a few years and they will get the deserved respect. We won 9 regular season games for the first time in 20+ years last year… we need to do that every year.

We are answering the doubts about the qb, rb and mlb. (but our secondary is now in question).

Even if we beat nc state.. it doesn’t prove too much, as they lost to the only good team they played. But Im very curious to see how we do against a “step up” in competition.

I do believe any run first team… will struggle mighty against us. Also any traditional drop back passers will struggle as well.

Qb’s like tony pike scare me.. cuz of his ability to negate a pass rush by rolling out and throwing on the run.

and Washington.. how they went win-less… you beat a highly ranked team, I believe that’s fine to enter the top 25.. because if they lose next week they will drop about just as fast as they got in.
