Where to Watch Akron-Pitt

The offline world has been hectic today. Since I don’t know if I’ll be getting back before the game, just want to drop the TV info on the game.

7pm tonight on SNY and FoxSports Pittsburgh. It’s also on ESPN FullCourt (channel 720 on DirecTV).

Also available on ESPN360.com if your internet provider is a espn360 subscriber.

Comment by Chicken Little 11.21.08 @ 5:50 pm

Can the out of staters hear it on the internet?

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 6:54 pm

They said its not big east refs, probably means it’ll be called tight…we’ll see how blair holds up…

…seems to be on the radio at link to 3wsradio.com

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:00 pm

I know Akron’s not a really tall team, but Pitt’s really crashing the glass well early.

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:10 pm

So far, we’re missing missing almost every jump shot, but getting a ton of offensive rebounds. I think we have 2 points not off of rebounds…

They’re getting too many open looks for a team that only is going to beat you shooting 3s…they’re doing a good job getting some open shots…luckily they missed a couple…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:12 pm

Stuart, completely agree. If they start hitting from beyond the arc, this could get scary.

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:14 pm

Fields is pushing all the right buttons so far.

I’ll be curious if Dixon remains this willing to use the bench in Big East games.

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:17 pm

Amazing change in Jamie’s philosphy: Freshmen are playing a lot!

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 7:22 pm

On that last series, we trap up top…mcghee rotates, but wannamaker is slow to rotate and they got a good look down low…thank god they blew it…then wannamaker goes down tries bullrushing the lane out of control….he really needs to calm down and get his head in the game.

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:24 pm

Let’s give Wannamaker some slack — he deserves our encouragement. Plus his Department Store is OK.

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 7:30 pm

I think Woodall and Gibbs both look better than Wanamaker. I’m really impressed with Jermaine Dixon, I can’t wait to see what we’re capable of with Gilbert Brown back.

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:30 pm

Well, Brad made that last 3, so that was good…but Fields was yelling at him for not shooting the wide open jumper…at least he got to the line…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:32 pm

I agree chris…

…at least we’re killing them on the boards…we have to have at least a dozen more boards than them…

…hey, we still suck at FTs…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:33 pm

Wow…if that wasn’t a charge, then there are no charges in this game…better stop that or we’ll be wasting fouls…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:34 pm

Would we even recognize our Panthers if they could shoot free throws??

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:34 pm

I cannot watch the game but the tracker tells me that we are killing them in the rebounding category. This of course is no surprise to me.

Comment by Panthoor 11.21.08 @ 7:34 pm

Sam Young taking everyone to school. Man among boys.

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 7:35 pm

Anyone else cringe every time Levance hits the deck?

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:35 pm

It happens so often I dismiss it.

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 7:36 pm

Sweet almost dunk by Sam Young…hahahahaha

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:37 pm

Young will be hearing that missed dunk in the locker room for awhile.

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 7:37 pm

Young’s not winning any dunk contest this week…nice block by the rim…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:37 pm

Sam Young made up for that last missed dunk. ESPN highlight!!

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 7:39 pm

Anybody see the Texas Tech score from last night?

East Central 115, Texas Tech 167

“Wow, that was fun, wasn’t it?” East Central coach Terry Shannon said.

I nominated this guy for Treasury Chief but it didn’t happen.

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 7:40 pm

We’ve really been relentless on defense and the boards and it’s doing wonders for the transition game…

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:41 pm

Its a battle out there…literally. I’m not sure how they didn’t T up Young and 32, considering every other little touch was considered a notmal foul…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:44 pm

Sam Young has smiled more this season than all of the three previous.

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 7:44 pm

Anyone notice how Sam Young’s free throw stroke is perfect. I have a fealing he’s been working on that all summer. Looks like he’ll be at 80-90% this year. Very crtical with his fake and take move.

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 7:46 pm

I wonder if Sam Young is trying to outscore Akron single-handedly

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:47 pm

WORST. CALL. EVER.

I can’t even fucking believe i saw that.

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:47 pm

Agree with the DieHard. At least Young and Fields look very comfortable at the line.

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:49 pm

Wow…if leveance keeps turning the ball over like this he’s going to average almost one per game…he better learn to protect the ball….

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:50 pm

are the Akron guys about 5foot something. They can’t get a defensive rebound. PITT is manhandling a ver good mid major team. I love it!!

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 7:52 pm

Wow, ugliest tip drill ever to end the half. We should really be up by 30 right now…

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 7:52 pm

Refs have now swallowed the whistles…far cry from how they were calling every touch foul at the beginning of the game…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:53 pm

29 rebounds is amazing. Blair and Young are monsters and Biggs, according to the tracker has also done well rebounding. If we go on an early second half run, which we like to do often, then this game will end up a 30ish point win.

Comment by Panthoor 11.21.08 @ 7:57 pm

Uconn strugglin with La Salle? WTF?

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 7:59 pm

Anyone see the Lasalle/UConn game? UConn is only up 5 with a few minutes to go…

Comment by PittDieHard 11.21.08 @ 8:00 pm

WTF refs?

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 8:09 pm

Side note for all…Lady Panther Volleyball team in Set 5 beating CINCY up at the Field house. Hopefully….Cincy goes down in flames all weekend long

Comment by Jen 11.21.08 @ 8:22 pm

Pitt getting lazy on D…already given up 17 with only 8 min gone…we usually hold teams to under 15 per 10 min…i think they’re getting bored playing these teams…we better be careful or they’re going to make it a game…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:30 pm

I’m not sure he got ANY ball there, but he sure got a lot of Dixons arm…

…fields must be tired…missing FTs….

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:38 pm

UCONN 89 Lasalle 81 FINAL. Go BE!

Comment by pitt fan 11.21.08 @ 8:38 pm

Blair looks like Shaq at the line. Has he ever practiced FTs before??

Comment by Chris 11.21.08 @ 8:39 pm

They must have a hundred team fouls…i don’t think they know any other defense…this may be the longest game in Pitt history at this rate…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:40 pm

The missed FT’s are scary.

Comment by Panthoor 11.21.08 @ 8:40 pm

I’m guessing their strategy the rest of the way is to foul a lot…we shoot FTs like shit…still.

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:42 pm

No call on the tackle on Dixon there? These refs are going to get one of our guys killed…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:44 pm

Wow, the young kids look lost out there without any leadership…just standing there trying to figure out where to pass the ball…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:47 pm

My fuckign video feed keeps going out…anyone else?

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:48 pm

Wow we’re playing like crap…seems like no one wants to be out there…not really executing any plays, just standing around…this might get down to single digits before its all over. I hope they get some rest and come out with a more consistent effort tommorrow for the entire game…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:53 pm

I can’t believe we gave up over 60 points to these chumps…and we may have gotten that one kid drafted too…

Comment by Stuart 11.21.08 @ 8:57 pm

Good win for us. We dominated the boards big time but it looks like we got a bit lazy on D at the end?(I didn’t watch the game, watched the tracker). Our big three should have all finished with 20 points, I’m OK with Fields at 19 but Blair should have hit some more FT’s. Biggs had a good game, you can’t expect 10 and 10 from him so 11 boards is gravy.

I think the freshmen will get better with some more punishing practices. When the BE portion of the season begins, Gibbs and Robinson should be a lot better. Woodall is fine right now, just keep learning from Fields and keep your hands to yourself.

Comment by Panthoor 11.21.08 @ 9:16 pm

Lacklust effort, but that game was over early. Pitt was not that into it in the second half. Especially defensively. The fans were pretty lame tonight as well.

Comment by Omar 11.21.08 @ 9:18 pm

The Backyard Brawl on SNY, what fun!

Comment by steve 11.21.08 @ 9:28 pm

Just got back. Coach Dixon was not a happy camper tonight. Maybe the guys were busy playing in the snow this afternoon and were just tired….

Comment by Bobby 11.21.08 @ 10:10 pm

Good win. I think the 2nd half started showing a little fatigue, especially Levance….when the 2nd stringers came in, the energy was 1000 times easier to see.

Comment by KeyboardKev 11.21.08 @ 10:40 pm

If it was fatigue, then they better go straight to sleep. IUP scared Syracuse in an Exhibition game, did they not? I know it sounds a bit ridiculous but let’s not underestimate the small schools. Young, no stopping to talk to the girls on the way to bed … go to sleep!
