I have to say I had a feeling. Apparently LeSean McCoy and Scott McKillop can’t win the Big East Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Award every week.

Instead the Big East went with USF’s Matt Grothe and Rutgers’ linebacker Ryan D’Imperio.

I suppose I have no big problem with D’Imperio getting the defensive award, since they shut down UConn’s Donald Brown for a whole half. And even though the real reason for the Rutgers win was UConn’s kicking game — 3 misses out of 4 including a game winner in the final minute.

A bit more annoyed that Grothe got the offensive when he piled up those numbers against Syracuse. I think that has to discount things a bit.

McKillop and McCoy were tossed the weak bone of “Weekly Honor Roll.”

That’s ok, most of the national sports writers are sticking with McKillop and McCoy.

Awards and recognition are fine; but the win (and continuing to win) are more important. We know how good Shady is. We know McKillop is a beast. Both will play in the NFL.

We also know that there was a lot of preseason hype and accolades being passed out before the Bowling Green game. This team is much better than it was to start the season, but it also showed us that awards aren’t nearly as important as wins.

Keep the wins coming, baby!!

There should have been NO award for Rutgers player on unranked team like that. They ONLY won because the UcONN KICKER CHOKED.
I was at Navy game and McCoy was great and frankly all Pitt D was too much for us too.
You will plow Rutgers this week just like Navy and you should be # 14 not SF.

I personally think Grothe deserved the award this week. He accounted for 65% of his teams yards, and lead the team in rushing as well. He also did not turn the ball over.

I’ll bet a lot of Player Of The Week awards get handed out to opponents of Syracuse.

Post Gazette says that the Buttgers game will not be televised still.

I’ve been able to see every Pitt game so far this year, so this is very disappointing to me.

I mean, a top 20 team not having their game televised in any capacity whatsoever is ridiculous.

JCMD – I believe the game will be carried by ESPN360 on a computer near you.

Comment by Reed 10.21.08 @ 4:29 am

I dunno Reed, the PG made it very clear in today’s paper that there will be no television for the game at all.

Maybe (hopefully) that’s changed.

Comment by Jimbo Covert's My Dad 10.21.08 @ 6:49 am

No TV as of yet, but still available online at ESPN360 is what Reed was saying.

Driving out to the game from CT… any way to get into a lot (not garage) where you can actually tailgate (as in grill)? Like independent lots?

Comment by PITTinCT 10.21.08 @ 7:32 am

hey CT…check out the lots over by the west end bridge. they are pay lots and open for tailgating.

Comment by ECH 10.21.08 @ 7:52 am

PITTinCT, you can tailgate and grill in any of the lots around the stadium and on the North Shore.

Comment by Dugdog 10.21.08 @ 8:27 am

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks. When do you think they open for a 3:30 game?

Comment by PITTinCT 10.21.08 @ 8:28 am

5 hours before kickoff

Comment by Jamie H 10.21.08 @ 9:03 am

If you get to any lot early enough and have an xtra 10- 20 $ you can park where ever you want.

Comment by Kurt 10.21.08 @ 9:23 am

Thanks all

If anyone’s making the trip to UConn for the last game and needs any info let me know, I have season tix for there too.

Comment by PITTinCT 10.21.08 @ 9:54 am

Oh, I thought ESPN 360 was television.

Isn’t it just a broadcast of the game online or something?

Also, any audio options online for this game?

If I still lived in Pittsburgh I’d just go to the damn thing.

Comment by Jimbo Covert's my Dad 10.21.08 @ 11:16 am

ESPN360.com is a live broadcast of the game, but it’s only available from certain service providers. Cablevision/Optimum is not one of them. I think the official team website does live audio. Sirius satellite radio covers every Pitt football game as well. Channel 129 this week.

Comment by PITTinCT 10.21.08 @ 12:13 pm

eBay has some tix with parking passes on it.

As Kurt said if you get there early enough many of the parking lot attendents can be persuaded to let you in for $10-20.
