Unloved at MSG

Also per Andy Katz, this annoying piece of info.

Pitt wants to play a high major at Madison Square Garden in December. But no one is biting.

Looks like the Memphis rumor has fallen through.

I guess that’s the problem when you’ve had the success Pitt has had at MSG in recent years. Everyone knows and is in no hurry to go there for a loss. Even with the exposure on ESPN and recruiting in NYC area.

We should get a good Mid-Major. The only problem with them is you don’t know what you are going to get. A Mid-Major team full of seniors can be as scary as a Kansas team full of All-Americans.

The Memphis thing was a pipe dream. That is who Pitt wanted, however Calipari said from the onset that they had no room left on their schedule.

My Syracuse idea (play Cuse in an additional game in December at MSG that doesn’t count in conference standings) is sounding better every day!

Well, better to ME, anyway.

Seriously, in better times, we would have played twice EVERY year. So why not kill 2 birds with one stone … play a big game at the Garden and right one of Tranghese’s biggest wrongs (not allowing us to play one of our biggest conference rivals twice)?

geeman – that would NEVERRRRRRRR happen

Pussies.

Globetrotters? Knickerbockers?

Steve – Pitt lost their “in” with the Globetrotters when Antigua left.

Haha, yeah let’s play the Knicks! I actually like our chances in that one!!

Or maybe the Croation National Team?

Ummm… the Rutgers women’s team…? Somebody, anybody… hello?!

I just want another December MSG game this year so maybe I can make it up there this time because I’ll free time in my schedule around Christmas.

Here’s an idea…Mr Dixon should call up his old buddy John Beilein and ask him for a game at MSG. Now I know what your thinking, Michigan basketball is noooooooooooo where near where it once was but, it’s a Big Ten school and they are trying to get back on track and it would be so great to just punish that team. Or how about Michigan State again or give a SEC team a call. There has to be a team out there saying to themseleves, Let’s go to MSG and show people out there that this team is beatable in their “second” home.

Yeah, I forgot, even if such a game (Cuse/Pitt) were a feasible idea, our chancellor would never show up Tranghese. They must be boy toys with each other. Thank God that clown is retiring, though I’m sure they’ll just replace him with another toady for the tiny hoops-only schools who continues to ream the all-sports schools. But I sure will enjoy watching us play DePaul twice this year.

Comment by geeman2001 07.17.08 @ 9:57 pm

I say we give UNC a call.

Seriously, if you were the other team, who out there in the top 25 would accept the invitation? You’d have to be a moron. I bet the rest of the big east teams are pissed off enough we have to play the Pitt Invitational Tournament every spring at MSG to decide the BE champs…
