Lower Ticket Prices

Pitt has announced its new ticket prices for season and single game tickets. The result, lower ticket prices and more access to parking passes.

Reduced prices: Season tickets, which go on sale today, are less expensive. Student tickets are $25 (down from $49); Upper end zone seats are $72 (down from $99); Lower level end zone seats and some seats in the upper deck are $99 (down from $199); The lower level sideline and upper level sidelines between the 20-yard lines are $144 (down from $199); and Club seats are $270. The club seats and some of the sideline seats will again require a donation to the Panther Club.

“If you look, 33 percent of our season tickets cost less than $100,” Pitt ticket manager Reed Patterson said. “That’s a tremendous value.”

Parking: For the first time since the Panthers moved to Heinz Field, every season ticket holder will have the opportunity to buy a season parking pass for $60, which breaks down to $10 per game.

“We’re selling the spaces at the same cost we pay for them,” Pederson said. “But we needed to make sure that if you buy season tickets you can buy a parking pass.”

The mandatory donations start at $50.

Other things in the works include lots more pregame festivities and activities. They also listened to the complaints about the stating time and if there is no TV coverage, the games will be starting at 3:30 or later.

As for the later start time, that will probably only apply to a couple non-con games. Given the expectations for Pitt this coming season, even if not on ESPN or ABC, you can expect that the Big East will be showing a few more of the Pitt games on the ESPN Regional.

they moved the band back over closer to the students too – Hopefully the changes help

$25 for student season tickets is tremendous. here at UCF it was $75 or so and around $20 a game if you didnt win the lottery to get one for free.

“He [Pederson] also has told Big East officials that the Panthers will never play at home on Friday night and all of Pitt’s home games this season will be on Saturday.”

That’s an interesting bit. I thought Tranghese was the guy that was rah-rah about Friday and Wednesday night games, b/c whoever is playing those nights, it’s usually the only game on. Can’t help when programs tell the chief, “Thanks but count us out.”

Until we put a consistent winning program on the field, Heinz Field will always look half full on days that we aren’t playing ND or WVU. I’m glad PITT is making the tickets more affordable, but this is a pro town…NCAA football is second-fiddle, at best….win, and the yinzers will come, it doesn’t really matter who PITT is playing, or if there is the world’s biggest beer bong in the parking lot–the love a winner.

They’ll never beat the deal USF students down here get on tickets: FREE!!!

I love how everyone raved about them filling Ray Jay for some games this year, but nobody mentioned that they give away 1/3 of the tickets in the place.

Apostles – true to a point, especially when you’re talking about families and Pittsburghers that have other options to spend their money on. But, if PITT makes these games the #1 attraction for the PITT students, that will go a long way towards establishing a fan base. I believe there is a certain inherent amount of apathy among undergrads in regards to going to the games, but once you get them off their asses and give them an enjoyable time it’ll become something to look forward to – and that’s more then just the game on the field.

I’m interested in seeing about the season parking passes. I’m a season ticket holder and for the last 5 years was guaranteed a parking pass as well, in the parking garage behind PNC Park. It’s frustrating seeing parking passes for the lots sold on ebay or even the lots being half empty as you are walking to the stadium.

They should REALLY serve alcohol at the games.

I’m not saying it’s an instant cure for the attendance woes, but it will help.

You underestimate the power that getting loaded has over 20-somethings.

I don’t know what the NCAA rules are for drinking at games, but I do know that (and I hate to bring them up again) the USF Bulls allow drinking at their OFF CAMPUS NFL stadium.

Re: Beer — If I recall correctly, the NCAA only forbids alcohol sales at championship events.

The sales at regular season games/matches/etc. are up to the policy of the individual schools Therefore, the beer-filled ball is in Pitt’s court and they continue to keep beer restricted to the club levels.

Was Jeff Long the worst athletic director ever? He brought us the least appealing home football schedule in Pitt football history last year, didn’t ever think about lowering ticket prices and was in fact sued by basketball fans. Yes we are now officially Pitt again but the new Panther logo makes me lone for Dino-Cat. Is Arkansas really going to let Jeff run the show?

Only there 3 months and Long’s already sold the school’s soul in bringing in RichRod South. Brilliant. They’ll be playing The Citadel in no time.
