Stull Still the Starting QB

No change, just the full stories that appeared in the newspapers. [Idle thought with no real connection to the football team, other than thinking about the pride the Stull family has today. Does anyone bother buying copies of the whole newspaper to save clippings or the whole paper of a story or do they just print out the article from the website?]

Bill Stull is happy to have reached a goal and a dream.

“It feels good, finally,” Stull said. “I guess once I signed and came to Pitt, I’ve always dreamed of being the starting quarterback in my hometown. I played football here in high school (Seton LaSalle), and what better way to progress than to be the starting quarterback for the University of Pittsburgh.”

At the same time, he knows that this only means things are just getting started.

“Now all the hard work has paid off, and I’ve reached my goal of finally becoming the starter, but it doesn’t stop here. I just need to keep working and getting better individually and as a team, we need to get better. Always a little something in the back of your head, but you have to put that on the back burner and go out and play your butt off, so it feels good. I feel like all the hard work has paid off.”

His teammates seem confident enough in him.

If Stull hadn’t won over his teammates during spring drills, when he ran exclusively with the first-team offense, he did by returning to full-contact drills wearing the glove and battling discomfort on every pass.

“He handled himself like a real leader,” redshirt junior receiver Marcel Pestano said. “He didn’t show pain. He was still trying to do everything, even with his hand injury.

“Everybody thought he was going to sit out, but I know Bill. He’s one of the toughest guys I’ve met since I’ve been here. He always wants to do something extra.”

A little more than a week until opening night.

Great article on Foxsports about the Big East and Pitt that will surprise a few of you. One downfall to the article- they note Elijah Fields as the starting Safety but besides that they beleive Pitt has a chance to hit the 8 win make.

Another article here on the ESPN college football front page about the Big East (it was the top story on the espn.com main front page yesterday). link to sports.espn.go.com

WOW. That Foxsports article was pretty favorable toward Pitt. Usually don’t see that in the national media (or local media for that matter). I can’t wait. Only one week from Saturday. Let’s go PITT

I am getting very excited. I was a little bervous after reading the article becasue it mentioned fields as a key contributor. Did they do their research or was this a rush job. Beside that I am excited.

I’m going to withhold any judgment on this team till we get that 7th elusive win…last year really hurt, how do you go 6-1 and finish 0-5, against UConn and S.Florida….anything less than 7 wins will be a failure in my eyes. This team needs a bowl game bad…see you folks at the stadium tonight.

I watched a BE Preview show on CSTV last night. Trev Alberts said that he believed if WVU, RU, and Lville maintain their level of play; and, Pitt, USF, and Cinci move up one level; and Syrcuse and UConn are more competitive; then he belived that the BE would have a legitmate case for being the second best college FB conference (top to bottom), behind the SEC. He also picked UConn to be the “surprise” team in the BE and likes Pitts chances to improve as well. The host of the show picked WVU to win the national championship.

I still buy newspapers to cut out articles and keep. My dad and I may be the last one left though.

I know the Navy game is televised (Wed. Oct. 10). Other than that, I’m not sure.

Michigan State is televised, too, Sept 15, noon, ESPN. Nothing else has been set yet that I know of.
