I exchanged e-mails with Mr. Reed Patterson from the Pitt ticket office about tickets for away games. Plenty of info in the message I received from him.

Away game tickets are currently on sale to ONLY Panther Club members and Season Ticket holders, and all away games are available to those members. Each away game is priced according to whatever the team we are playing charges for that particular game. There is a maximum amount of tickets that someone is able to buy, and the location of those tickets will be in the away team sections (which will be different for each team we play). If you are a Panther Club member or Season Ticket holder and would like away game tickets please call the ticket office at 1800-643-7488. If you are not one of the previously mentioned group members, please check our website to see what , IF ANY, away games will be available.

If everything goes as planned, I’m hoping to go to the games at Michigan State and West Virginia.

The Virginia game is also just a few hours from pittsburgh and about an hour from the dc area.

Any comments forthcoming on PSU wanting to add either ND (perinally the most overrated program out there) to increase the qual…er, attendance of the big 11? And now they all want us to join as the second option?

I’d rather dismantle our programs than join the league of bandwagon schools.

There’s no talk of Pitt going the big 10 but rather rutgers or syracuse.

There is on their site – I know the big 11 commission isn’t considering it, but PSU fans want it.

Ronald Hobby commits to Pitt…

So who’s this short, mid level speed guy Pitt just gave a scholarship to, I’ve never heard or him…has anyone else? I thought we were short on scholarships, yet now we’re giving them to a 1 star kid…?

I ordered my tickets for Michigan State already. I went to Morgantown a couple years ago (3yrs, I guess), and will never give that school another dollar of mine. Despite standing in line 4o minutes before game time, we did not get to our seats until the end of the first quarter. The stupid Hoopies only has 2 turnstiles opened at this particular gate (despite it being a sellout on Thanksgiving weekend), and we eventually stormed the gate and ran over the ticket takers. They didn’t even get mine. Once we got to our seats, there were Hoopies sitting in them. We asked the usher to get them to move, and HE REFUSED TO DO IT!!! I couldn’t believe it. We were cussed at the whole time. It was the worst experience of my life. The next year we went to South Bend (when Tyler dropped the F-bomb on national TV), and had one of the best football experiences ever. What a class program that is, as much as I hate the Golden Domers themselves. We were welcomed when we entered the stadium and every time we went to the concession stand, and the fans were much better behaved than WVU. I’d definitely go back to ND (to kick their butts) again!

it was on college football live tonight and the analist sitting next to mark may said pitt would be the logical choice and then they had a little discussion. it would be a big mistake!!!Mark may also stated that ND would never do that because they have their own T.V contract and they pretty much can pic any bowl game they want(including all the big east tie ins). (bull shit that pisses me off too that they can be in the big east for everything else but football and still take our bowl game)how about penn state join the big east, the big east should be more proactive and start f-ing with other conferences!add army and navy at least we can get one extra win each year we dont have to add them to the basketball portion. I can’t also wait till ASS-pa coke bottle glasses dies on the sideline. Off the subject but i would like to see pitt get its own stadium closer to campus i think that would help attendance i used to love walking up the hill for the pitt games when i has season tickes.

The Big 11 would most likely want to add SU or Rutgers to get the New York TV market. Adding Pitt would not increase the number of viewers all that much because there are already a bunch of PSU grads living in the Pittsburgh area.

On Hobby…This is from the Pgh PG:

Ronald Hobby, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback/wide receiver from Brandywine Gwynn Park High School in Maryland,, gave a verbal commitment to the Pitt football program today.

Hobby also had offers from Boston College, Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Eastern Michigan.

That’s not too shabby a list of schools.

The Big 11 may want the NY market, but so did the ACC. In the end, if they add a school, it will have to make sense for the school presidents…my guess would be Missouri (who makes no secret of wanting to join the Big 11), and is a school that better fits the profile of current Big 11 schools.

5 foot 10 isnt huge, but its pretty good size for a DB. At 175 if he puts on 10-15 lbs he will at least be good on special teams. Not everyone can be a star. Besides, he ran a 4.43 at Pitts camp, which he described as a slow track. Last I checked, thats pretty fast, and is probably faster than anyone we had on the first Wanny team. (tommy campbell doesnt count because he plays football like a gymnast)

I’m heading to the MI State game, also. I try to go to one away game each year. What’s up with the Alumni Association? They haven’t had a hospitality tent at home or away for over a year. I agree with Ann about the class the students displayed at South Bend. I was at the same game.

Last year’s Pitt-UConn game was my first Pitt football game since ’98 – I ordered through the Pitt office and didn’t have any problems with not being a Panther Club member or season ticket holder. It was nice sitting with the Pitt fans (lot of bubble-script jerseys and sweatshirts, I might point out) and the overall experience was fantastic. Other than watching the defense give up a gazillion rushing yards to the freakin’ quarterback.

Looking forward to more of the same this year at Rutgers. Maybe even at the expense of Rutgers.
