A New TE Commit

Last week there was word that Nic DiLillo out of Madison, Ohio had backed off of his verbal to Clemson, and was looking to Pitt. According to Scout.com, he has given Pitt a verbal. DiLillo is a 3- to 4-star TE prospect and considered the 12th best in the country according to Scout.com. Rivals.com lists him as the 20th best player in Ohio.

Keep in mind that Ohio State has not offered him at this time. He is an Ohio kid, so if they do offer later in the year it would be no shock to see an Ohio kid jump at it. Still, this is very good as Pitt will gets a better TE prospect than Mike Cruz.

Might want to check out this column from Ron Bracken of the Centre Daily Times: link to centredaily.com

Some interesting comments on who’s to blame for the non-renewal of the Pitt-PSU series as well as his thoughts on the Penn State football thugs’ “punishment.”

After having to endure Mike Cruz’s balk-and-bail from Pitt, DiLillo’s verbal is welcome news.

Say what you will about Cruz — and sure,we all know he’s a “kid” — but his rationale for overcommitment was as brite — and equally immature — as a prekindergarten; his explanation went something to the tune having “just rushed myself,” and that, “My mom tells me to always keep my options open.” That episode was just about tops for the most ill conceived “early” verbal commitment in recent history.

Anyone with feelings for our program should have equally embarrassed for Cruz and the University.

How many tight ends does that make? We already have Strong and Byham. Did we sign three more for next season?

Matt, add Pelusi to our current TEs – he could be a good one and playing more soon. Some of these TE recruits will probably see the field as OLs. We’ll still go after Hubie Graham I think.

Great signing with Dillio (we need to be careful if OSU offer b/c he will jump ship again) and next I hope Graham Signs to. With Strong and Pelusi being seniors and Byhnam using his redshirt last year it is a great spot for both prospect to come into. Good work Wanny and Welcome to the PAnther Dillio

[…] I imagine there will be the standard story about how he always dreamed of playing for tOSU and when the offer came, he couldn’t say no to his dream. Heck, I noted back in late June when his verbal was pending to Pitt that if they offered, he’d probably jump again. […]
