Aaron Gray has strep throat. Aside from sucking lozenges, and not yelling too much, you have to expect him to play.

Aaron Gray has strep throat and did not practice Thursday, but Dixon is optimistic that the 7-foot senior center will be ready Saturday. “It’s something you have to deal with, and we’ll see how it is,” Dixon said. “It’s guesswork right now. I’d like to have Aaron against pretty much any team. I think that’s safe to say on that one.”

I still expect Pitt’s game plan to be a little different, because Gray will still have to be somewhat limited because of the illness.

I doubt Gray sits this one out.

Regarding Ken Pomeroy, his new pomeroy ratings are ludicrous. I’ve emailed him several times for an explanation. He said that Pitt has not played anyone and that is why they are ranked 42nd in the ratings. However, Florida is ranked 1st and Connecticut is ranked 5th. Those two teams have played, arguably, the worst schedules in division 1. Not only that, Florida actually lost their two most difficult games, yet they are still ranked 1st. It doesn’t add up and the credibility of his system is suspect.

Hopefully Dixon has this team prepared to play without Gray just in case his illness doesn’t improve. Do you guys think Kendall will move to the center position?

Omar: And that FSU, which lost to our boys, conked Florida?

Methinks Pomeroy forgot to delete old data from his spreadsheet.

Obviously you want Aaron to play in this game. But if you look at it in the long run, it might not be such a bad thing to see what happens agaonst an opponent like this without him. Lets say that Aaron cant play and the panthers pull out a victory. Imagine the confidence boost that this gives the other players. Also think about the experience biggs, and even kendall will get against a sweet 16 caliber team that they might face if Gray is in foul trouble throughout the season and into the tournaments. I guess i am just looking at the positives that can come out of the situation. But I hope Aaron is able to go.

about the game:
2 teams that are based on sound fundamentals especially defense. this is a game where we can possibly use our athletic guys and our depth to run the floor on Wisconsin. i am anxious to see what happens.

I see the game as a 50-50 proposition. I know Pitt can win but at the same time they can lose.

We will just have to see how it unfolds. I know that if we win the TO & RB war, we most likely will win. As for Gray, I think he will play and am hoping that JD is being a little vauge about his gametime status.
