Rutgers-Pitt: Open Thread

It’s active in Oakland. The Pitt stores are busy. I’m just getting this out at Panera to relax for a few minutes. Maybe walk around and soak things in for a bit. I love this campus.

There’s a defiinite buzz right now. People are trying to get things done. Clear the decks as it were, to free up the day for football.
It’s an absolutely gorgeous day. Almost makes me wish the game was at noon. Ah, it should still be a nice evening. Perfect day for football. Any and all talk about the game can go here.

The old (are there any other?) Beano Cook line, which he usually uses for us when we play ND: Rutgers doesn’t have more than 2 or 3 players playing for them that Pitt might have wanted. Ergo, Pitt has the ‘better’ team. That makes it a terrible loss.

There is no next game for me. The football season is over. You cannot lose to Rutgers at home and expect to be taken seriously. Our six wins are meaningless. We lost handily to the only two legitimate teams on the schedule. Even if we beat Louisville or WVU it doesn’t matter. Pitt football took another GIANT step back last night. I’ll still attend the last two games, but I could really care less if we win.

The only team Pitt fans should care about plays in the Petersen Events Center and opens their season in a month.

I must admit I got a little emotional during the game and forgot the reality of Pitt’s overalll situation.

1) The team is young and has young players, who in an established program would be redshirted, playing.

2) Rutgers was clearly the better team. Even if we get ready of the seeminly bad calls and the dropped passes, it would be hit or miss if we could have won the game.

3) DW has been hear a little over 1 1/2 seasons. It is not like he had inherited a lot of talent.

4) All of you who are down on this team have the false perception that it is better than what it is.

5) It is a game that is played by young men who are enrolled at Pitt.
