I can barely stand to read some of these comments anymore. Guys – this is D1 P5 football. This isn’t your son or grandson’s flag football team where the coach’s son and friends are playing over your more skilled little one. Have any of you been in all the practices to compare QBs day in and day out? Didn’t think so. And when Reed was able to be there – he commented how strong NP looked. Listen, I like CV too but he isn’t cutting it. He’s not being sabotaged. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard on here in a while. He’s not playing as well right now. And don’t give me that crap about a fair chance – he’s played the same amount of series as NP. Imagine if CV stays in and we lose to Akron – then you guys are saying “why didn’t he play NP”.

Comment by JJ 09.23.15 @ 9:14 am

JJ, for Christ’s sake … Peterman’s 2nd series vs Akron was Pitt taking over at Akron’s 35 after a fumble, and the drive resulted in 4 plays for -3 yards. Neither QB looked good in the 1st half.

Yet, NP got the call over the experienced starter. Again, I have no issue with NP paying … just don’t insult me that it was a fair fight

Comment by wbb 09.23.15 @ 9:22 am

JJ – Thanks for inserting some common sense. Unfortunately, CV has wracked up good completion percentage stats with a lot of short passes that haven’t moved the team at all (ala Tino, without the stupid sacks). That drives me nuts. If it’s something he can overcome, fantastic, but decision making is one of those areas where I’m skeptical will ever improve for a QB after about year 2.

Comment by 1618mt 09.23.15 @ 9:29 am

No one on this board has any idea if it was a fair competition for quarterback. Personally I will trust Narduzzi and Chaney to make the right decision. If Voytik was playing better ball than Peterman right now he would be starting.

Comment by Oklahomeboy 09.23.15 @ 9:30 am

Sigh…

Comment by Timmeh 09.23.15 @ 9:31 am

Tino only had 22 sacks his 1st year as a starter …. look it up. I do agree that he could have unloaded some of the passes, but he got his ass kicked for 2 straight years behind a porous OL, just like Savage did the year after.

Comment by wbb 09.23.15 @ 9:33 am

@wbb Well I guess my response should be that it was clearly Chaney’s play calling that led to that poor drive!

I mean if you want to look at this one bad drive then let’s look at the one right before the half. That game goes both ways.

Reed, please start a new thread on the girl’s volleyball team or something so that we can get off of this dead horse.

Comment by JJ 09.23.15 @ 9:37 am

Do you guys owe Chad money? Does he owe you money?
What is wrong with all of you? I never met a coach ever who didn’t start his best players and Chad is simply not as good as Nate and it is not close.

I’ve watched Chad live in 6 pre game warm ups and 6 games last year and watched him for a full hour and during the Spring
Game. He can not hit a short pass rolling right to save his life and throws a horrible long ball sidearm with little accuracy!
Again, it’s not even close !!! What has he done at all this year to show you Chad defenders anything else???

I give him this. He is a tough kid with decent football sense and a better runner than Nate. That’s it!

Please stop with all the James Bond inside theories about Chad being slighted by Chaney. They chose the best QB and it’s not even close!!

Comment by Dan 72 09.23.15 @ 9:41 am

JJ” didn’t I write .. neither QB looked good in the 1st half?

But the fact is that NP still got the nod over a more, experienced QB who was the starter.

A reminder that Coach Pat Narduzzi will be on Wednesday’s ACC Teleconference from Noon to 12:10 p.m. The media dial-in number is (719) 325-2428.

To listen via the web, use this link: Link to ACC Teleconference

Note that Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer is also on the call at 11:40 a.m. (The Hokies play East Carolina this week.)

rYmO – a first time commenter has to be approved by Chas or who by wrote the article. Everyone has been approved right away as far back as I can remember. But Chas, Justin and I aren’t on here all the time. Sometimes days go by before one of us shows back up on the blog. In other words, this blog is secondary in our lives as we all have other things going on.

Comment by Reed 09.23.15 @ 9:46 am

Dan 72 and just about everyone else, I am not arguing the point that NP is the better option. He certainly appears to be within OCJC’s offense.

That’s not what I have been writing at all … it just appears that you all have this “pre-conceived” notion of what I’m saying as opposed to what I am actually writing.

Comment by wbb 09.23.15 @ 9:50 am

I think there’s a lot of frustration with the offense due to a rash of injuries to high caliber talent and Chaney installing his system as opposed to working the with the system Chryst had rolling the second half of last season. I don’t think many expected the offense to require more retooling than the defense. But, unfortunately, that appears to be the case so far. And, such being, many fans are disgruntled.

Comment by johnnygossamer 09.23.15 @ 9:56 am

Reed,

Not slighting you and completely understand. I got the green light from Justin and that makes sense since that was his article. We all have lives outside of the Blather and I know you 3 do it on your free time…been a reader long enough. Wasn’t aware that I could see my posts though without being approved. That was all I was saying.

I truly appreciate the work you, Chas & Justin put into us to get us all stirred up each week.

Cheers!

I always remember my Dad telling me, when I was a young teenage and even in my 20’s Pitt fan in the 70’s and 80’s

and I would take a Pitt loss to heart and be upset for days about it….

“you know, the other team has coaches, players and fans that want to win the game too”

New Blather Rule Suggestion–Once Tino gets mentioned it’s time to change thread topics

@Dan, When Gen Pickett was asked why his charge failed at Gettysburg, he said the Yankees had something to do with it.

Comment by 66Goat 09.23.15 @ 10:40 am

When a coach tries to keep individuals on the team happy, as opposed to what is best for the team, everybody suffers. That, to me, is the hardest part of coaching at any level. Especially when certain players give it their all, and are very personable.

Comment by 66Goat 09.23.15 @ 10:44 am

@66Goat, LOL!!

Comment by Dan 09.23.15 @ 10:54 am

If I remember correctly, basically all of us were tired of going 6-6 under PC every year and were all in favor of CHANGE.

Comment by pittman4ever 09.23.15 @ 2:07 pm

……well with change comes CHANGE!!! Chaney is changing the O and Nard Dog is changing the D. And everyone knows it takes LONGER to work the kinks out of the O then it does the D!!!!
So 3 games in, for Pete’s sake, before you hang Chaney on and Oakland tree (and it better be a stout tree!) give him time to teach the kids a new system. Patience my friends, patients!

Comment by pittman4ever 09.23.15 @ 2:13 pm

rymo – I wasn’t upset or anything, just explaining how it worked.

Comment by Reed 09.23.15 @ 4:12 pm

@pittman4ever, it was a good enough concept to get our current pres elected.

Comment by Dr. Tom 09.23.15 @ 6:10 pm

Dr Tom,
BlaaaaHaaaaaaaaaaaaa :>) funny!!!
