One More Gametime Set

Be honest. You really weren’t sure that the road game at FIU would be shown anywhere but on some pirated stream. Instead, it will be a game on FoxSports 1. Yes, they are still a real channel despite airing Big East basketball games. A noon game, but it counts.

To remind every one, this is FIU. They are not the school that fired Carl Pelini for alleged drug use or whatever the allegations now are. That’s FAU. No, FIU is the school that had rising coaching star Mario Cristobal and inexplicably fired him after a rebuilding year to eventually hire… Ron Turner.

FIU was also the school that once hired Isiah Thomas to coach basketball, so their judgment in coaches is not exactly sound. FIU is also in Conference USA at this point — which I had to double check.

This game was set up before Pitt was even invited to the ACC. It made sense at the time because it would have been in a year where USF visited Pitt. This would have been a trip to Florida for recruiting as well. Instead Pitt will double-dip in Miami this season as there is also a road game at Miami.

That puts times for four of the twelve Pitt football games. The first three games and the Thursday night ESPN home game with VT. The rest are under the control of ESPN and likely to be decided once the season begins.

Thanks Dan!

Even Spike Lee blows off Rangers games.

Hey Doc,

Welcome to the real South. Hope you enjoy Savannah as much as I enjoy Tally. Savannah is one of the most beautiful places in America. Should you run into Sandra Bullock down by the River, tell her I will in fact go out with her…….

@steve1–I checked with Verizon. Sadly, the DSL speed I am getting is the maximum available where I live. I am even paying $10 a month extra for enhanced DSL or I would be getting speeds half of the pitiful 1.4/0.6 download/upload range I now get.

Maybe a better newer modem would get it faster? i haven’t checked that out with Verizon yet.

pitt 1972, likely your modem was provided by Verizon, correct? If so no problem there.

Frankly, I don’t think their “enhanced” DSL is making a difference. I’d ask them. If true you can buy me a beer with the money you save.

Here’s some advice from Verizon:

Regular DSL speeds for my area from Verizon are 0.5 to 0.768 download. Enhanced is 1.1 to 3.0 download. My 1.4 is right in there so I have no case to complain to Verizon. That’s the best they will do where I live.

If I want faster it is either cable or Satellite. I will look at a $$ comparison between dropping DSL from my Verizon Phone + DSL bundle and adding Internet from Dish. I think the differential will be $30-$40 a month additional.
