Is there anything more absurd than posting a top-25 list for the next season within minutes or hours of the final game of the season? Yes. Compiling a list of the rankings to see where your team fits. I’m nothing if not ridiculous so here are the ones to date.

Gary Parrish at CBS Sports had his out minutes after the UConn-Kentucky game ended. Pitt got slotted in there despite the departures of Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna at #23.

After that Pitt tends to get lumped in with others who may crack the polls but not ready to be ranked before the season begins.

Well, not everywhere. SBNation leaves Pitt out of their “other” category. NBC Sports doesn’t go beyond their top-25. Yahoo! only lists a top-15 then goes 15 others which did not include Pitt.

USA Today has Pitt on the “other” line. As does ESPN.com. Even worse than projected top-25s in April, a bracket projection. Somehow Pitt is placed as a 4-seed.

I feel dumber than I did before posting this. Hopefully you will as well.

Those lists are predicated on who the coach is not the players.

I feel smarter than you Chas because I am not posting a response to this.

Lunardi must like f*cking with us. Yea he has us as a 4 seed playing in Seattle. That’s about as far removed as one could place Pitt from Pittsburgh. Since Hawaii & Alaska have never hosted NCAA tourney games.

And to screw with us farther, good ole Joe has Villanova playing in Pittsburgh as a 2.

I know it’s not likely to occur. But just the thought that he went to these extremes is disturbing. F8ck you Joe ! 🙂

A question for anyone.

Don’t need to talk about any transfer specifically, think we’ve all mentioned 3 or 4, with or without Pitt on their initial list.

Question is, when do any transfers have to formally announce or sign their transfer papers, transfer letter of intent, or whatever it’s called.

Is there a date for that??

Hmm. Gary Parish has Mostella coming to Pitt. Does he know something???

The one thing I will say about Dixon, he most definitely had the team prepared to play in both the ACC Tourney and the NCAA Tourney. They had trouble the whole year against teams like Virginia but got over the hump in a sense with the defeat, and near blowout, of UNC… but the same story over again against UVA and then they indeed blew out Colorado before being outclassed by Florida (and UCONN but them away, and also MSU).

In any case…. Dixon looks like he is moving forward so… he has 30 PPG to replace with Patterson and Zanna graduating, and then there are also the rebounds and assists that need to be replaced… and IMO he will do it I just don’t know how right now.

Maybe Jeter will come in and be the next Lamar Patterson… and Haughton the next Talib Zanna.

Well, probably not but if those two can partially replace the recently graduated and we get improvement across the board otherwise… that might cut it.

James Robinson… needs to get some rest and have a much improved season next year.

Cam Wright… needs to start hitting the 3ball with some regularity.

The freshmen need to take a step up… ESPECIALLY Jamel Artis and his defense.

Durand… needs to get healthy and start putting in a higher percentage of his 3balls.

It is a compliment to be ranked where people are ranking us…a compliment to Dixon. Faith that he seems to always squeeze blood from the stone. I think he will again this year.

Surprise, PSU isn’t mentioned. But then their women’s team would have a better shot at making the men’s NCAA tournament.
