Lehigh Returns

The trickle of non-con scheduling continues. As part of the Legends Classic that Pitt will play at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, they will also get a couple home games that are ostensibly part of the tournament. One of those teams will be Lehigh.

Lehigh University’s men’s basketball team was chosen to be a part of the 2013 Legends Classic and will play road games against the University of Houston on Nov. 17 and University of Pittsburgh on Nov. 20.

Last year Pitt played Lehigh at the Pete as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off, and it went so well they decided to do it again. The game actually gets some national run as it will be aired on ESPNU that Wednesday. Giving Pitt a chance to get to .500 against the Mountain Hawks.

Howard is the other team Pitt will play as a part of the Legends Classic.

Just in case you forgot — a few months ago, 15th seeded Lehigh from the Patriot League beat 2nd seeded Duke from the ACC 75-70, behind CJ McCollum’s 30 points

My bad …. Lehigh beat Duke 15 months ago in the 2012 NCAA

Wbb, thanks for the reminder. That was one of my favorite tournament games of all time.

Lehigh will not be the same without McCollum.

Mountain Hawks ?

Wasn’t Lehigh called the Engineers ?

And that has nothing to do with Indians, so why did they change it ?

It should be a “W” regardless !

Emel, scary but I had the same thought. What’s wrong with Engineers? .. unless it was called Injuneers

Comment by wbb 07.25.13 @ 6:12 pm

Yes, they were once Engineers. When Bethlehem Steel tanked they decided, perhaps rightly, that they needed a broader identity.

And since South Mountain abuts the school…

Yes, Lehigh had been called the “Engineers” in their brown & white unis.
