Site Problems

Filed under: Admin — Chas @ 2:13 pm

Seems that one of my spam comment filters has started to go wonky. That’s why comments are getting error statements. I’ve disabled the offending plug-in for the moment to allow comments to go through. I’ll try to muddle through and figure out what to do to fix this.

pankey is gone also two down.

Frank, Let’s hope that Chryst, Bostad, Huxtable, Rudolph, Haering & company can bring in a few surprises and more than make up for the loss. Remember “It ain’t over util it’s over.”

Comment by Justinian 01.17.12 @ 3:20 pm

You worry too much Frank. Chill dude. It’s how you finish and I’m a believer that Chryst and company will finish strong. I’m just surprised only two recruits have decommitted thus far. So far, Chryst is doing a good job holding this class together. And as Justinian points out, there might just be a few surprise pick-ups.

I want to zing Khem — Chas, I beg you — get a Khem post going! 🙂

Comment by Ghost of Hornman 01.17.12 @ 4:25 pm

Just hope with the site problems here that we don’t lose Mutually Beneficial girl!!!

Comment by QuipScript 01.17.12 @ 4:58 pm

I just seen where Nick Montana was given a release from Washington. Seems very far out that he would come here to play. He was highly touted coming out of high school.

Comment by QuipScript 01.17.12 @ 5:10 pm

FRANKCAN–Do you know anything new? Hoopies are trying to steal him but per Rivals and Scout he is torn between the two and hasn’t decided. Rivals has him open. Scout has him as a Pitt soft verbal. He does have one foot out the door but unless you have heard differently he hasn’t yet committed to WVU.

Comment by pitt 1972 01.17.12 @ 8:32 pm

QuipScrip, I don’t think you have to worry about us losing the Mutually Beneficial Girl. I think they are reaching the highly targeted audience segment that they want to reach.

Comment by Justinian 01.17.12 @ 10:20 pm

Wouldn’t it be cool if they could tailor what the Mutally Beneficial Girl looks like, based on each reader’s tastes?

Comment by Lou 01.17.12 @ 10:52 pm

I’m good with MB girl, why mess up a good thing?

Comment by BigEgg 01.18.12 @ 7:03 am

As long as the tatas are natural, I’m fine with any MB girl.

Comment by TX Panther 01.18.12 @ 7:17 am

don’t they look to be too rounded to be natural?

Comment by wbb 01.18.12 @ 7:24 am

Guys, guys, lets not look too far into roundness here. Just be happy its not some fat slob looking guy with a goofy smirk on his face! I will take it, like BigEgg says, “dont mess up a good thing!”

According to ESPN Insiders:
Looks like Denman will make his decision next weekend. Plans on making trip to Wiscy!

Pittsburgh is falling on Demtrious Cox radar.
He seemed to like PSU, hmmm, interesting! I have a feeling that he will end up in Ohio State. These local kids love that idea of Ohio State wanting them. Especially true now that Urban is calling them!!

Nothing on ESPN about Pankey though.

Comment by QuipScript 01.18.12 @ 9:11 am

Finally an interesting debate. I think surgically enhanced but very well done.

Comment by Boubacar Aw 01.18.12 @ 9:12 am

You know how bad Pitt sports are when we turn to the MB girl for inspiration!

Didn’t notice the tan line prior, but bonus points in my book!

Comment by winedogs 01.18.12 @ 9:19 am

Well with Paul Zeise on sabbatical, and we are all using rivals, ESPN Insiders and scout.com for all of our latest information, its getting slow around here!! I tell my wife all the time, you gotta keep me interested or I start to wonder!!! That makes her mad by the way!

Comment by QuipScript 01.18.12 @ 9:32 am

I was hoping for a few recruits after last weeks big recruiting week end. I am still afraid that the new staff will try to make Pitt a Big Ten like team but without the Big Ten talent. Isn’t this what Wanny did. Let’s face it, it is hard to recruit against the likes of OSU, Mich, Wisc. and PSU if they get their act together. Go to a game at any of those stadiums and then go to Heinz. At least with the spread you could get a different type of talent that can compete against any type of competetion. That is the only reason WVU has been competitive against all of those teams with yearly recruiting classes rated well below the classes at Pittand alot of the other teams that they have beaten.

Comment by JP 01.18.12 @ 10:02 am

JP – last weeks “big” recruiting visit only included one uncommitted player – JJ Denman. The other six had already committed. In fact, Will Parks a CB from Philly after his visit, is now a soft verbal and is visiting…you guessed it Arizona.

Comment by Winedogs 01.18.12 @ 10:36 am

JP. there is much sense to a Big 10 like team without the Big 10 talent. However, even worse is a fast-paced Big 12 type offense without that type of talent .. namely speed.

Note that Holgerson took over a spread offense with receivers like Tavon Austin while we had Mike Shanahan returning punts.

Also note that except for this past season, VA Tech has been the dominant team with a non-spread offense and very good defense.

My initial concern is defensding the quick spread before we get into running a fast=paced offense.

Comment by wbb 01.18.12 @ 10:38 am

TX Panther not worryed i had made a prediction to pk that we would lose 4 and sign 5 outhers to take there place for a total of 20 commits so i am just keeping count.
but we do seam to be after kid that are no stars NR this rb they are looking at is nr would like to see some 4 stars or 3 insted

Comment by FRANKCAN 01.18.12 @ 10:38 am

I don’t think we need a spread. I think we need a good offence, a little creativity, and good play calling, all of Paul Chryst is known for. I would like to see us run an offence inwhich the talent we have is suited.

Now what I would also like to see, the signing of a few good linemen, because I think they are in good shape in the skilled positions.

Comment by Justinian 01.18.12 @ 11:13 am

The new coaching staff needs to recruit somebody-anybody with some stars that we can expect to have a good future playing for Pitt.

Comment by Houston Panther 01.18.12 @ 11:25 am

The jury is going to be out on this coaching staff untill the next recruiting season. The main focus of 2012 has to be retaining the committed recruits and replacing the recruits who jump ship.

Hopefully we lose no more than 4 and the addition of Mike Caprara is a good pick up. He is a player and a lot of star ratings are based on 40 yard times, size, weight, etc…; this kid might be a bit undersized but he fully understands the game and can flat out play.

Let’s see how February 1st turns out because you always have a few last minute surprises.

Comment by Jim from Dallas 01.18.12 @ 12:02 pm

Justinian i am with you last year we signed at least 3 DBs we have 4 transfers that are DBs and in this class we have i think 3 DBs maybe 4.

so you would think it would be OL and D line men
and one more QB to go with the one we have.

Comment by FRANKCAN 01.18.12 @ 12:12 pm

I will hold my opinions of the new staff until I at least see who the qb will be in the fall.

Comment by JP 01.18.12 @ 1:37 pm

Lost Adam Pankey OMG NO Thats what Pitt needs big good Offensive Linemen and Tight Ends.Get some big offensive linemen and TE’s and Bench “Tiny” Then Pitt will be F I N E!

Comment by RandyRandyTime 01.18.12 @ 2:13 pm

You sll are looking too far into the stars by a players name. Joe ruldolph, paul chryst, and huxtable are known for taking these minimally recruited guys and turning them into GREAT players. If youve noticed, it seems like there are certain players in pitts class who this staff isnt trying to hard to keep: parks, conwell, pankey. Those are the only obes considering leaving but theyre keeping most others who would sppear to fit what they want better. This is a very smart move imo IF chryst gets kids thst he feels are better players. I trust this staffs ability to evaluate players do please stop getting hyped up over the # of stars. Russell wilson was two stars and there are countless other examples from wisconsin. All pitt needs is good coaching. You see how that works st places like wisconsin or boise state. Bsu rarely has a guy more than 3 stars but theyre a top 10 team every year.
