Admittedly it did not seem like a lot of people would get to see this one, but it has a little more coverage than initially suggested. It is on the Pitt Panther TV network for those in Western PA or so with Comcast. But it is also on SNY, ESPN FullCourt and ESPN3.com (Online). Game time is 6pm.
SC State is a MEAC school. Pitt has never lost to a MEAC school, this won’t be the game to see that run end.
So join in the watching and commenting. I’m sure we can talk rationally and reasonably about it, the expectations for this team going forward, the Khem Birch issues might arise and by the end of the game I might even venture into a little football coaching search stuff.

This crap about waiting until Tuesday evening, if true, after the “bowl game”, tells me Cristobal is staying where he is, or going to Penn State or another school with a real athletic department. Our next coach will be Luke “6-6 but a damn good recruiter” Fickell. Walt II, maybe. Frank Cignetti has a better resume than this guy. And he did not work for a college football pariah. BTW – is it Fickell, as in “fickle”, or Fickell, accent grave on the “kell”? A la Tony Dor-sett?

Re Burch: I thought he decided to not do a Prep School year, a post HS year, not his last year of HS. Wouldn’t that make him the same age as a normal Freshman?
Without him, Pitt is much worse off as a team.
Doubt we can play .500 ball in the BE without his shot blocking inside.
Sometimes kids just need a break to go home and see mom, dad and the dog (cat).
Unless you see him on the floor, you just can’t appreciate Gilbert’s size. He is bigger thn his stats, his wing span is enormous and he occupies so much space that you cnnot go around or over him. Good athletic skills, nice hands and good footwork.
I hope he can shoot foul shouts because he will get offensive boards and get hacked going back up.
Since you seem to referring to me, you should at least actually read my post before you cast the first stone…
I never said he couldn’t recruit. I stated that it was easier for him to recruit to Ohio State simply because of their name & success. If you really think Fickell was most responsible for most of these recruits (as opposed to the OSU brand and now Urban Meyer), well, I can’t say anything kind so I’ll be quiet.
Also, Satterfield’s offense at App. State put up big numbers and the team won two National Championships while he was there. Cristobal appears to know how to surround himself with capable assistants.
Right now he is hearing that it is MC’s job and the anouncement is being held up until after the game FWIW.
Now that being said if bozo the AD would’ve selected MC a year ago we wouldn’t be in the trouble we are now.
And don’t give me MC wasn’t ready…Smilin Steve is an idiot when it comes to personell decisions flat out.
So excuse me if I don’t get overly excited regardless of who the pick is right now. I will support it because I am a Pitt man…but I am really sure that what ever Smilin Steve touches turns to shit.

The NY Giants offered many times.
Say what you will about Paterno, he was fiercely loyal to PSU.
He got 28 minutes against Penn and promptly had a Double/Double. 15 pts. & 10 rebounds with 3 blocks. Taylor never had a double/double in his first 2 years and then had one a game or three after Birch did!
He followed that up with 29 minutes against RMU and
scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and whopping 6 blocks.
When Sleepy came back from missing two games, Birch’s minutes got immediately cut in half (approx). So……..
(my own thoughts were, wtf is going on, why do you cut his minutes in half after he just had break through games against Penn & RMU.)
Can’t imagine what Birch thoughts were.
