Saddler Has Torn ACL

Damn.

Cameron Saddler didn’t just twist his knee in practice the other day. It’s an ACL tear in the left knee. It was a non-contact injury.

Saddler, was expected to be assuming punt and/or kick return duties in his freshman season. Instead it will be a redshirt and lots of rehab.

The charismatic and talkative Saddler was (cripes, I’m writing like he’s dead or something) one of the big December commits following Pitt’s win over WVU. Not only that, he may have been the most vital since he became a one-man recruiting force for Pitt.

Here’s hoping for a full and rapid recovery.

Seems like Pitt is becoming Torn ACL U.

Poor kid. Hope he recovers and reaches his full potential. Until then, let’s fix him up and get HIM on the recruiting trail!

Agreed with every statement above and in prior threads. Best of luck to Cam in his rehab. Hopefully he’ll be walking again without much effort by the time we need him to put in some key recruit face time at The Pete in 4 or 5 months! Come back strong Little Gattuso.

The PostGazette is reporting that Josh Marks has enrolled at Pitt and will walk onto the football team this fall. He will be a redshirt freshman and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining after this year.

Hopefully he can get his act together and realize the potential scouts thought he had when they labeled him the 3rd best lineman in the state.

You really have to wonder about all the ACL’s the past few years. I’m sure it’s just coincidence and in football injuries happen. Maybe there’s some bad mojo on the SS practice fields.

I’m not a football expert, with that said there has to be a safer way of preparing for the season. We’re losing talented players during summer practice — there’s got to be a better way. We were fortunate Bill Stull didn’t get hurt more seriously or we’d be without a QB again.

Although Cameron Saddler hasn’t seen one minute of game time he has done a lot for the Pitt football program. I hope he has a successful surgery and a full recovery. In the meantime, I hope he applies himself, studies hard and continues to be a great ambassador to Pitt.

Wow, classless. It would still take 23 years to tie the series; which would be tough considering that the longest WVU win streak is 5 (Pitt’s is 15).

Anyway, I hope Cameron gets well soon and we will miss him dragging recruits (Shayne Hale) into the Zoo.

Lack of proper capitalization for no discernible reason? Check.
Improper use of ellipses? Check.
Poor use of commas? Check.
Arbitrary and asymmetrical use of exclamation points? Check.
Poorly crafted insults which question the gender or sexual orientation of Pitt fans? Check.

Sir,

You are an embodiment of the failure of the public educational system of this country. I recommend an immediate remedial grammar and reading class. Best of luck in you quest to conquer your functional illiteracy. In no time you will be able to post insults of the same rigor and quality as a quatrain from Green Eggs and Ham.

Who ever wants to see one of these kids injured? why? I know it is near impossible for any team to get through a season w/o injuries, but really, I would never wish an injury or celebrate one on any player, even an ‘eer. Having rehabed my acl, I can tell you it sucks! Hope both Cam and Greg have speedy recoveries.

Comment by Kurt 08.14.08 @ 8:50 pm

its tough to see any of these injuries but this team is getting deeper & tougher and its all the more incentive for Cam & Doug to get fixed and rehabbed and come back stronger than ever. Its not easy but they will have a lot of help and best wishes of fans & staff & a rapidly improving team that will pull hard for them to come back.

Florida has already had something like four or five players suffer ACL tears this summer, so it could be worse.

Get better Cam. I really do like this kid so here’s to a speedy recovery.
