Debate Topics For A Bye Weekend, Part 1

Helmet stickers for Pitt. Yes or no? Personally, I’m not that big a fan of them (the downside of which is that it puts me in agreement with Joe Pa), but I could see Coach Wannstedt bringing them back sometime soon. I suppose I might not object as much if it was something simple — in fact that may have been the thing to do with that stupid Panther’s tooth they tried to push as alt logo a few years back. Then it might have worked. We all know, though, it would be that hideous Panther head that just looks like a blue and gold blob from any distance.

Didn’t they used to use the Panther tooth stickers back when they first went to navy with Nike? I seem to remember us having pride stickers then.

I want to throw up everytime I see those stupid Buckeye stickers on the tOSU helmets. The only thing that really matters is the team award that comes by posting the “W” on the board. I hope the panthers don’t go down that road.

They can put the script PITT back on the helmets if they want to make me happy.

I agree about the script Pitt. At the Rutgers game the shirts that really stood out were the light blue shirts with the gold Pitt script.

I’ll just state that I like the new colors and the block letter PITT scheme a lot. I did like the old script Pitt too, but the more I see the new unis, the more I like them.

A common complaint about the new getup is that they look just like a whole bunch of other schools’ colors.. like we’re trying to leach off the continuing success of Navy or something.

I pitched this idea to my friends during the Syracuse game… I think one way to counter that impression that we’re too much like ND, Navy, etc.. is to dirty up the helmets with some stickers. Stickers were fine for Marino’s script Pitt helmet, I think they would go a long way toward total fan accpetance of the block letter PITT thing in football. In fact the stickers could have the old script Pitt and colors on them.

Since Pitt is running with the navy blue and Vegas gold scheme there are few things that Pitt can do to stand apart from schools with the same color scheme… script Pitt helmet stickers are a much better way to be different than, say, leaving your jersey untucked for the whole game.
Pitt could then actively market both the block letter PITT scheme and the old script Pitt.
To me, stickers are a fantastic idea for Pitt athletes, fans, and merchandising.

No stickers! If you want to look different than ND, Navy, or Colorado and keep the same colors add stripes to the arms, pants, and helmet like the old uniforms.

Just go back to the old colors and script “Pitt”

Just start winning games.

6-2, they are winning games.

We seem to be a school that cant decide what we wanna be when we grow up. We want a whole “new look” yet we did away with the blue pants and whole monotone look when we went with Adidas, going for a more traditional look. Why not white pants then?

We shoulda never changed the colors and uniforms in the first place. It’s a smoke and mirrors way of signaling to a fan base “we’re changing.” It’s bull. Win in what you’re wearing and your fans will come back.

I didnt see Texas looking to go to neon orange and black after five years of losing under Mackovic.

The only tradition that this school has is that we have no traditions because we don’t keep anything around long enough for it to grow.
