Like the DePaul meeting, this will be only the second time the teams have met. Pitt lost to Louisville back in ’47, 64-42. Not exactly a helpful basis. He didn’t remember, and asked who was on the team. When they mentioned Charles Smith and Jerome Lane, his comment was, “Well, now I see why we went 0-2.”

Pitino’s Associate Head Coach is Kevin Willard, the son of one of Pitt’s worst head coaches, Ralph. Fred was an assistant for his father at Pitt, so that storyline can be expected to be mentioned.
