ACC Extras

A couple other ACC/Pitt items.

If you live in Atlanta or want to road-trip for the Pitt-GT game, today is the day to buy tickets.

On the day that Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame officially join the Atlantic Coast Conference, Georgia Tech is making it lighter on the wallet to see two of those league newcomers in Bobby Dodd Stadium this fall.

The Panthers, Orange and Fighting Irish become official members of the ACC on Monday, a ceremony celebrated by the league office at an event in New York.

In recognition, Georgia Tech is offering a one-day-only sale of tickets to the Yellow Jackets’ home football games this fall against Syracuse (Oct. 19) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 2), Tech’s Homecoming opponent. The $15 cost per ticket signifies the 15 schools that now make up the ACC roster, and online sale of these tickets will last 15 hours, beginning Monday at 9 a.m.

Then the price goes back up to $40. Of course, I’m sure the gameday scalper prices would be reasonable. Still, if you like to plan ahead, this is a good deal.

Want to see what the ACC patch looks like when done with Pitt colors? Here you go:

(hattip to CollegeSpun)

Then there is the whole ACC in NYC thing. Including the mascots.

Two things. Obviously, Maryland’s hazing for their final year started today. The other is the Duke Blue Devil. Anyone else assuming that the Duke mascot wears basketball gear during their football game? I think he does.

Finally, I’m guessing the ACC changed their mind about Syracuse and for Pitt and ND to join, it fell to them to deal with Otto.

Wait….what…..no ACC Script 🙁

Poor Terrapin, hopefully they also dunked him into the East River.

And I don’t see the Florida State Seminole, Chief Osceola or something similar ! Although the thing next to Roc, looks to be wearing fSU colors.

what’s a Tar Heel look like?

Always a pitiful site seeing a struggling turtle upside down struggling to right himself.

It’s a southerner with tar on on his heel. What do ya think ! lol
But they also use the Ram thingie in the back right side.

Whoever lined them up for the pic, should have had the mascots wearing overly large hats in the back,
just saying !

Thanks for the tip about Georgia Tech tickets. Took advantage of it. Downside is the seats are in the GA Tech end zone section.

I will be in row in front of you in same section. Hopefully by the fourth quarter we will have section to ourselves.

Hail To Pitt.

i think they want to sell out that end zone. the visitor section is across the field and in the corner.

i like at atlanta. have a few friends and family in the area. still hope to add to the pitt crowd.

Looks like all the good seats are sold. GT must have sold a good amount of season tickets and it’s not a large stadium.

Only Sections 215 thru 219, 2nd deck endzone are available.

Think we might scalp em on game day or at the Hotel.
Craigslist, ticketstub also an alternative.

Will this be the 1rst PITT-GT game since the 1956 Gator Bowl ?

As a Tech ticket holder, not only do I pay full-price for all Tech games, I pay a seat donation to keep my 35 yard-line seats. Tech is famous for under cutting season ticket holders and is the reason why tech loses season ticket holders every year.

The only games Tech sells out are when Georgia comes to Bobby Dodd and the likes of ND. Florida State can’t even fill Bobby Dodd. I’m sure there will be empty seats when Pitt comes to Atlanta even during homecoming weekend. But $15 is a good deal.

I think that the last time Pitt played Georgia Tech was in 1976 in Atlanta. Pitt won 42-14 in a night game. Robert Haygood got injured at QB, giving way to Matt Cavanaugh.
