Q: When is homerism good?

A: When it’s your guy who is being the homer.

Give the WWLS some credit for finally grasping that they should let the video clips be embeddable. Now if only they would cut a deal with RedLasso.

Nothing wrong with Mark May admitting the homerism. Besides, it’s not like the Panthers have no chance of winning the conference.

Even after 25 years & some lean ones at that, May still has no problem showing his loyalty on the big stage.

In other Pitt homerism news, I think Tyler Palko is going to make the Saints as possibly their #2 QB.

I haven’t read that, but looking at tonight’s stats it appears he got extensive playing time in the Saints 3rd preseason game (2nd only to Brees, and being as though it’s the 3rd preseason game that’s a good sign). His numbers were decent: 11 of 16 no TDs and a pick.

I know it’s not current Panther news, but I don’t think I’m alone when I say that Tyler was one of my favorites and that I’ve pulling for the guy to make a team after being an undrafted rookie free agent last year.

I just went through a gametime chat on nola.com. If it is to be believed, it looks like Mark Brunell is very safe as the #2 for the Saints. The guys running the chat seem to think Palko will make the team as a #3 b/c the Saints won’t want to risk him to waivers. The fans of course want to dump him in favor of a sixth wide receiver.

I’m definitely with you, I would like to see Palko catch on somewhere. I think he can, but maybe not with New Orleans. If his path in the NFL mirrors that of Alex Van Pelt – a long-term backup with his third NFL team that occasionally got playing time when the guys ahead of him on the depth chart were hurt, were incompetent, or forgot to read the playbook – then I would feel like Tyler did OK for himself.

Brian you’re right on with the local sentiment on Palko down here. ‘Aints fans think I’m a little nuts for cheering for him and him only, but I definitely want to see him do well.
