7pm.

ACC NE/ESPN3

First off, thanks to Justin for covering for me on the last two open threads. Waiting for bail money is— This past weekend was my son’s Boy Scout Thanksgiving camping trip. It’s held in a cabin (thankfully, and not in tents). It involves all the families coming out on Saturday for a dinner prepared by the kids. Somehow convinced my wife to switch with me for the second day so I just got to town on Saturday for the football game before running back home just in case our teenage daughter got any ideas about things with no parents around on a Saturday night. That’s the story I’m using and you can’t shake me.

As for tonight’s game.

Two strong and relatively easy wins. As has been noted, even in Pitt’s biggest patsy games in the past two years, their biggest margin of victory was 21 — against McNeese State last year. Hardly much of a way to measure the changes, but there is something to be said about burying a team by 39.

Tonight it is Troy and they are predicted to be middle-of-the-pack in the Sunbelt. A bit better then YSU would be the way to look at them. The Panthers are playing their third game within a week.

After struggling to hit any outside shots in the first game, Pitt had their way on the perimeter against VMI on Friday.

Troy is an above average team attacking Pitt along the baseline with good success. Disappointed Capel is running an old fashioned 1/4 offense. When he goes to the Flex it really gives Pitt an advantage.

Troy has a good game plan. Of course hitting 20 of 21 free throws helps – but this seems to show a Pitt vulnerability. Quick players who can drive to the hoop.

How does Troy on the road get 11 more FT’s than Pitt? The game’s not close without those.

Jared Wilson-Frame on fire again. Glad he decided to stay…

Chas thanks for the link to see tonight’s game.

Troy is the best free throw shooting team I have seen in years. Our youngsters play with intensity and seem to be enjoying themselves.
Coach C knows that he needs to recruit some tall trees and I firmly believe he will get them!!

I’m not sure what to expect with this team. Size and a lack of elite shooting, I’m sure, will haunt this team throughout the season … But, gosh darn, don’t they play hard on both ends of the court and with a purpose. Capel’s influence is already shining through. The team appears to like each other and there’s a “love for the game” spirit that has been missing for quite a while … going back to Dixon’s last few seasons. Effort + Enjoyment + Team will equal a few extra wins that we’ve missed the past couple of seasons.
