Various Network affiliates, and on theACC Digital Network.

Since Pitt joined the ACC, the games with Duke have been almost absurd offensive showcases.

The first two games saw the teams combine for 113 and 99 points respectively. Last year, Pitt hung 56 on Duke.

Even in the relatively tame 2015 game, Pitt put forth 31 points en route to a win. That was Pitt’s lowest scoring output. Outside the Rice, game, Pitt hasn’t put 31 points or moreup in their other 6 games.

Duke after roaring out against 1-AA NC Central and then Northwestern and Baylor has seen their offense disappear in ACC play. The 27 points they scored against North Carolina being the high point comes with the notation that 7 points came off a pick-six. Same as their 21 point outburst against UVa.

Duke’s offense relies heavily on the run. No one player either. In that respect, they are like Pitt with no particular back. Unlike Pitt, they are actually able to garner well over 100 yards on the ground as a group.

Their passing game has been shaky. A bit of a surprise for a Dave Cutliffe team.

Their offense has steadily declined in ACC play. Pitt’s has just been steadily bad.

Duke’s propensity for making interceptions is worrying with DiNucci and Pickett.

I’m thinking that this game — score-wise — will be maxing out around 40-something. That is unless Pitt gets a lot of special teams scores and/or Duke continues to ball-hawk on defense.

Zero comments at the half? How disappointing. I’m away and can’t watch so I was counting on you guys to let me know what’s happening.

Dinucci not the one, play KP, very boring game Pitt Dad, your not missing much.

Comment by Moe Greene 10.21.17 @ 12:55 pm

It looks like we’re up at the half although it looks like no one can score. That alone, being ahead, is cause to celebrate.

Comment by Pitt Dad 10.21.17 @ 12:58 pm

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Watson was fired at halftime so more bad play calling for the game

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:05 pm

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:06 pm

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:20 pm

DiNucci plays well last week so you pull him. Plays like shit this week and keep him in. Awesome Duzz!

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:22 pm

Second half mistakes=poor coaching

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:38 pm

What’s Duzz gonna use as an excuse this week. Can’t say we didn’t run the ball. Pitt has 289 yds rushing but still down 3 going into 4th

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:43 pm

Duzz wasting a time out on 3rd and 11 they better stop them

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 1:46 pm

Judging by the box score alone, damned glad their kicker isn’t any more accurate than ours.

Comment by Pitt Dad 10.21.17 @ 2:11 pm

Is it safe to say DiNucci is our QB and Hall our RB?

Comment by Pitt Dad 10.21.17 @ 2:13 pm

Very fortunate but we will take it!

Comment by Steve h 10.21.17 @ 2:31 pm

Great ending at least according to the pbp online.

Grateful for small victories.

our running backs line up too far back, need to step up a yard. By the time they get the ball the holes are closed.
Quarter back needs to be more patient in the pocket, quick to run but those runs did help us.
The end run plays with Henderson don’t work anymore, do something else with Henderson.
Teach Brightwell not to hold receivers, caught twice for penalty.
Teach Jackson how to cover pass plays and turnaround and not run into receivers.
Through over the middle more , short passes need a chance.
One hell of a growth game for many of these guys.
Duke quarterback bad passer.

Pitt wins and that’s all we need to know.

Sorry, “throw over the middle”. ( bad spelling)

Now if PSUcks loses, i’d Call this a great day.

A win is a win…Nice to see one of our RB get 20+ carries…good things happened…Still think Dinucci should start, but he was off today…Had a few bad plays on D but also saw some nice plays made by our secondary. The secondary is playing better…On to VA…H2P

First time Pitt has rallied from a 10 pt second half deficit since beating Connecuticut 24-20 Oct 9th

A much needed win. Defense continues to improve. Hopefully Maddox can play again this season. Hate to see that end his college career. Nice to see Hall separate himself from Ollison. The offense is still maddeningly uninspiring. I agree with most that it’s best to just let Pickett run the show the rest of the season. They have to find a way to bust these 8 man fronts. I’m still surprised how little we’re using the tight ends.

Comment by Tossing Thabeets 10.21.17 @ 9:38 pm

This game should help build a little confidence. Especially in the O-line. Makes the decision to pull DiNucci last week look even dumber. Yes Hall was the number 1 star, but this game is not won without the two throws to Weah and the final third down completion to Lopes. Weah fighting for that ball was the play of the game. Great to see Hall separate from the pack, hopefully not a one off.

Really too bad we didn’t have this defense last year, they look to be turning the corner. Sad about Maddox but gives another young guy more experience. The backs are looking a lot better. Hamlin looking a lot better. I think the defense could be pretty strong next year.

Still a very painful team to watch, with very questionable play calling but happy for the baby steps.

Winning after going down 10 points is a very big deal, no matter how it happened.

Pitt needed this. I needed this

TX – that’s the big thing. Maybe, just maybe, this gives them the confidence they need the next two games. I’ll never count Pitt out for an upset either … I see you VT and Miami.

This offense though … flashbacks to Wanny’s first two years and Matt Cavanaugh.

Comment by Tossing Thabeets 10.22.17 @ 10:04 am

The Buckeyes must win Saturday. MUST!

Comment by Moe Greene 10.22.17 @ 2:25 pm

I’m thinking there’s a chance…a chance at making a bowl. Pull that rabbit out of the hat Nard Dog.
