Sorry, it’s been a week — and it stayed that way.

During the game this past week, a lot of frustration with QB Max Browne. I’m not in favor of benching him and moving on at this point. Head Coach Pat Narduzzi has made it clear that isn’t going to happen.

I don’t believe he is a bad quarterback. But he definitely is not as good as Nate Peterman or Tom Savage. There are clearly some limitations on him, beyond his, uh, limited mobility. The most glaring is the way his passes tend to sail. It works on longer throws where the receiver has time to get under them. When it comes to being in the redzone or making shorter passes…

At the same time, let’s be realistic. Ben DiNucci isn’t Sam Darnold.

On a different note.

Sorry about all the comment glitches. I quite literally have had no time to find/figure out what is going on with that. They all show up on my feed and even if I access PittBlather directly. I am going to guess that the old creaky visual format that this site use is at its breaking point. I may have to do something kind of radical to the format. So if the visual layout shifts radically in the next couple weeks, bear with me.

That was too easy for OK. It’s going to be a long day for Pitt.

Cowboys score easily. OSU loaded onffense–a much stronger team than the Nits.

Comment by Isnore 09.16.17 @ 11:09 am

Conklin D + Browne at QB spells disiaster

Comment by Dan 72 09.16.17 @ 11:11 am

Agreed horrible defensive start and poor offensive series good punt.

Also a lot of missed tackles

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.16.17 @ 11:24 am

Pitt out classed today.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 11:24 am

Sad.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 11:24 am

I’m going for a long walk.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 11:25 am

Wiiiiide open– terrible pass

Comment by Isnore 09.16.17 @ 11:31 am

Browne just doesn’t have it, slow of foot and wiffs on a wide open receiver. Mike you going to the Pitt GT game? I am going with Savannah Panther and a few others.

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.16.17 @ 11:33 am

3 missed tackles on that TD play missed QB twice and missed the receiver, horrible they are going to be given a severe beat down today, critical drive can Browne do it?

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.16.17 @ 11:42 am

Another STUPID penalty. Pitt is a total mess.

Comment by Isnore 09.16.17 @ 11:45 am

WLAT — Yes, I’m going to the Tech game.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 11:51 am

Mike

Best down for OSU is 3rd down—AMAZING!!!

Comment by Isnore 09.16.17 @ 11:56 am

Narduzzi is a worse Defensive Coach than even I thought.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:00 pm

POD I have to agree with you, wow they are just horrible on defense and this years offense is bad, really bad. Max Browne is not the answer.

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.16.17 @ 12:03 pm

I know it won’t make a damned bit of difference but how do you not call that late hit? Field position does matter. So does player safety.

I guess when you are this outclassed you get no calls at all.

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 12:04 pm

Better play Sweet Caroline right before halftime.

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 12:06 pm

Like I said last week… Fire Narduzzi… Start DiNucci!

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:07 pm

WLAT — Okay. Thanks.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 12:07 pm

Embarrassing flat out embarrassing

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.16.17 @ 12:09 pm

Offensive PI. No call.

Still embarrassing.

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 12:32 pm

We have a new STARTING Quarterback!!!

Shame is… he should have been starting all along.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:44 pm

Now… as for a new Coach.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:46 pm

DiNucci reminds me a LOT of Jeff Garcia.

And that’s plenty GOOD for me!

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:50 pm

My guess is we were never going to win this game anyway. But I think the quarterback question has been put to rest. If we have any chance of winning the ACC Coastal, it’s going to be with Ben leading the way.

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 12:51 pm

Coaching carousel: A Pitt thing. It ain’t the coaching — it’s the players not executing and although some blame goes to coaching, it’s the players that need to step-up. I don’t think these players want to play for an X Trojan. But when the dust settles, Pitt is still in contention for the Coastal. H2P!

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 12:58 pm

The good thing about starting Ben, we might have the same quarterback more than one year in a row. It would be nice to build some consistency-successful consistency-on offense.

Next stop, how do we fix the defense?

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 12:59 pm

DiNucci is destined to be a VERY good College Quarterback.

You heard it here first.

Actually been saying it for a awhile.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 12:59 pm

Marietta… you still haven’t caught on to Narduzzi?

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 1:01 pm

PittOfDreams — Some said the same thing about Christ.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 1:15 pm

Blame Nardog, huh? I don’t see itt it’s the poor playing on D

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 1:16 pm

Pass interference

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 1:21 pm

Meanwhile… Pitt’s EX Coach who couldn’t RECRUIT… couldn’t DRESS… couldn’t SPEAK… takes his TOP TEN Badgers to the field on ESPN right after this… whatever you want to call it.

HILARIOUS!

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 1:42 pm

Narduzzi is NOT a HEAD Football Coach. Not sure he is a GOOD Defensive Coordinator either.

My money is on Heather pulling the trigger sooner rather than later.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 1:42 pm

Are we @ 50 messages yet?

Comment by MariettaMike 09.16.17 @ 1:49 pm

Hope it’s sinking in for most people here how much of a POSITIVE impact James Conner had on this football program. Not to mention a Kicker named BLEWITT.

Take Conner away… and Blewitt… and Narduzzi really has nothing to show for himself.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 1:50 pm

Narduzzi… OFFICIALLY on the HOT Seat!

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 1:52 pm

ESPN ridiculing PItt and its Fans. NEVER been LOWER!

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 2:02 pm

Narduzzi needs to go… sooner rather later.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 2:18 pm

@PoD – assume he is released now or at the end of the season (which assumes Pitt is totally embarrassed in conference play), who do you see as a replacement? Who would be good enough and willing to take the job?

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.16.17 @ 2:28 pm

PittDad… too early.

However, I was against the hiring of the current Coach from the beginning and posted as much.

“No to Narduzzi” was my mantra way back then.

Truly wish I had been wrong.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 2:33 pm

Reposted from POV… deservedly so I think.

The 800 LB Gorilla…

Yes… it’s that simple.

@PoD – ok, I will stay tuned when you’re ready.

As for an OCS, while I support the concept wholeheartedly, there is little likelihood of that happening. Unless private funds are raised to support it, the University will not spend the money.

H2P!!!

PittDad… you give a totally PRACTICAL response.

Mine is totally emotionally… but more right than wrong.

Comment by PittofDreams 09.16.17 @ 3:28 pm

Unless the Good Lord radically alters the geography of Oakland (and pray that never happens), a stadium there is not very likely. While he is at it, he could throw in a couple hundred million Dollars to pay for it.

Comment by 2$Chuck 09.16.17 @ 5:05 pm

HCPN not on hot seat

Comment by DocJlk 09.16.17 @ 6:55 pm

If you Wikipedia Pitt stadium and read the entire article the Pitt administration was considering gutting old Pitt stadium with a rebuilding process that included a dome and luxury boxes and the price was a bargain.

The University of Pittsburgh has systematically screwed up the program for the last 35 years including poor hiring and questionable firings, moving off campus was the cheap way out. Right now we are mediocre at best regarding football and basketball. Is the season lost? No but it is looking like maybe 6 wins and the pizza bowl in Detoilet.

Comment by WLAT 910 radio and the big beat! 09.17.17 @ 6:57 am

Lots of inexperience on defense, hopefully whitehead, Hamlin and Paris ford will help to solidify the secondary. Tackling was horrible yesterday.

Comment by grizzly1 09.17.17 @ 9:42 am

@WLAT – history is littered with projects that in hindsight make sense but were dismissed for what we now realize were, at the time, the flimsiest of reasons. Google “Long Island Sound Bridge.”

H2P!!!

Comment by Pitt Dad 09.17.17 @ 10:04 am

Hoops or football?
Which team will win more games?
At this point, I’m going with hoops.

Comment by Gasman 09.17.17 @ 6:56 pm

Well basketball plays 3 times as many games. They better win more than the 5 that the football team MIGHT win.

Comment by JLE 09.18.17 @ 5:31 am

i guess this blog reached its limit. Ouch.

Comment by MariettaMike 09.18.17 @ 2:00 pm

Pittt is BC south.

Comment by Steve 09.18.17 @ 5:37 pm

There once was a Blog called the Blather,

Where Pitt Fans near and far would gather,

Then with a blink everything Pitt Sports began to stink,

And Chas began to say “Why bother?”
