No Bostick In Booth

Well, this is a surprise. Pat Bostick won’t be filling the analyst role on the Pitt football radio broadcasts this year. He’s going to focus on his other job as the Director of Development for the Panther Club. More with the fundraising aspect.

Coming back to the booth is Billy Osborn.

Osborn has been highly active in broadcasting over the past dozen years. He called college football games for the Comcast Network and also did color for the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul. Osborn is co-host of the “OZZIE and KRAUSEY SHOW,” which can be heard on ESPN 610 AM Sports Radio in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area.

A four-year football letterman at Pitt (1985-88), Osborn was a quarterback and defensive back before settling in as a three-year starting wide receiver. He finished his collegiate career with 77 receptions for 1,104 yards (14.3 avg.) and nine touchdowns. In addition to football, he also lettered in baseball and basketball, becoming the first Pitt student-athlete to letter in three varsity sports since Mike Ditka.

Osborn previously served as the analyst for Pitt football from 1995-2003.

More from Pat Bostick.

Bostick, the former Pitt quarterback, served as color analyst the past five seasons. He joined the Panther Club staff in 2011 and has continued to assume elevated roles for Pitt’s official athletics fundraising office.

“It has been an honor to call Pitt football games alongside the legendary Bill Hillgrove,” Bostick said. “I will forever owe a debt a gratitude to Bill for his friendship, professionalism and introducing me to broadcasting. While I’ll miss being in the booth, I’m very excited about taking the next step in my professional journey. I want to welcome Billy Osborn back to the broadcast team and thank our athletic director Scott Barnes and the entire Pitt family for giving me the opportunity to continue serving the great University of Pittsburgh.”

Bostick did a fantastic job in the booth. A little disappointed that he won’t keep doing it.

Same here Chas, Bostick was great. Thought we would lose him to the Networks, not Pitt fundraising. I think he is a superb analyst, one of the best I have heard. Hope he is making the right decision. I remember Osborne being better than Fralic, but that is not saying a whole lot.
Maybe he has improved with experience. Funny Fralic was a great player, Osborne was very good, and Bostick never really got a chance.

Well good luck to Bostick, fundraising is probably a more important if not thankless job.

Best wishes Brian Bostick, I too enjoyed your broadcast work.

Chas – stole my thunder. I have to post my article now as I’m driving up to PGH in a minute and will be sans computer for most of the day.

Mine will go up in two hours…

If memory serves (and it doesn’t always do it), Osborn did a really good job in his previous stint.

A question about fund raiser’s compensation … straight salary or commission?

Pat, you will be missed!
A great Pitt man who was excellent in the booth as immortal Billy’s eyes and in depth analyst.

Maybe Bostick has aspiration to be an AD, experience fundraising would be must on the resume.

notrocket, good point

What’s his new role does anyone know?

Comment by tedsptman 04.15.16 @ 10:21 am

wbb, it is usually considered unethical for a fund raiser to work for commission.

I’m with everyone else as I really enjoyed Bostick’s work in the booth and thought he would be the bridge breaking in a new play by play guy when Hilgrove finally retires. When he first started as Pitt’s color man I was amazed at how mature he sounded , knowing how young he was. Continued success Pat, we will miss your analysis.

I find it mysterious, in a kind of ‘oye vay’ kind of way, that Pat Fricking Bostick, is not getting major props. !!!!!Seriously Blathernation or LameNation if I can be direct!!!!!

This, Mr. Patrick Bostick, the leader who whoop ass against Notre Fricking Dame, West Virginia 13 FRICKING 9 for God Sakes. the greatest celebration of recent memory when the WVU stadium ran Blue and Gold with Panther shouts in the locker room so FRICH)KIMNG loud they overcame the lame streeam media of ESPN covering the game. PIttt just beat rival WVU, who was on course for a NATIONAL TITLE. PITT BEATS THESE M.FERS. WITH PATRICK BOSTICK.

I was so upset with the lack of props for this peep – that I did not get to edit an angrily, typed with extreme anger really, the previous post. Pat Bostick is not only a great broadcaster, but a great PITT QB.

He got shoved out because of TINO, TINO the worst Pitt QB of all time. Tino beat out Patrick. Ok. Enough said. All Bostick did was keep PITT relevant and in the minds of the nation what it means to be a keeper of the PITT legacy.

Future Panthers, just walk the campus. It will speak to you and you will know you need to rise up.

kuku — indeed.

Best wishes to Pat Bostick, he’s certainly “a Pitt guy” through and through.

Go Pitt.

Pat Bostic was well prepared and did a great job in the booth and will be missed. Osborn has his work cut out for him.

Pat found his calling when he became an analyst & sports broadcaster. His enthusiasm for Pitt football and his colorful commentating was always stuff for inclusion in the highlight reels. The man is a Pitt guy through & through. Good luck in your new endeavor Pat. You will be missed behind the mic.
