ESPN2 at 9pm. Probably. Given the way games run over, this one might not begin until a few minutes later and on ESPNews (hopefully not on ESPN3).

So, football season is over. I mean, aside from waiting to find out about the next OC and how recruiting ends. Details.

Attention shifts to basketball.

The Orange have struggled in the non-con. Not the random LeMoyne upset. They just have struggled at times. They’ve lost players early, and haven’t replaced as quickly as in the past. It’s almost like they may be in a slight down cycle. Good, but not as good as they have been. So, they may be struggling not to simply be in the top-25 or make the NCAA Tournament, but to make the NIT.

I will say this, as I often have. Pitt and Syracuse aren’t rivals. We have played a lot in the past and the ACC has essentially declared us to be in conference. But we aren’t. In the past, they have been a measuring stick of where Pitt wants to be.

They sure don’t enjoy losing to Pitt (just as we feel that way in football — someday it inevitably will happen again). The fact that Pitt has had the upper-hand in the past 10 years, only makes it a little more edgy. Just a little.

tedsptman…I have seen every game and JR so far has had two bad ones, one so-so, and the rest he has been excellent…not just the usual Assist/turnover thing but shooting 40% 3pt and 50% otherwise.

Now, the so so was two games ago and one of the bad ones was last night. Hopefully not a trend back towards mediocrity.

If he can play 4 of 5 games they way he played the first 10 this year, we will be top 15. If he goes back to the old JR, well, we still won last night with that! But it will be much more of an uphill battle.

A few points for thought:

The team is better than last year.

Robinson is the motor that gets the guys going.

Sterling Smith really adds to the second guard slot. He is smart, fast, and can shoot the three flat out

Upittbaseball you don’t know basketball. I am not trying to be insulting.

Syracuse didn’t even try to rebound in the first half.

Young was double teamed most of the game especially first half.

Jeter and Jones were major contributors for the win. Nice seeing Jones (local kid for me) do well. Jeter needed more playing time he has always had the talent.

We wore Syracuse down in the end.

Still worried about the center position especially when we get to the meat of the ACC. Maia too slow. Ododa needs more time on the court.

Syracuse is a good team we beat. Home court helped

DD, JR always plays well against the weak OC teams (think stiff vs stiff). The only true analysis will be how he plays against the ACC portion of the schedule.

Either way it’s his last year and ATB to him going forward…

That alone should refute the Upitts, Emels and Dan 72s, but it won’t…

What is it with you, I didn’t make any negative comments about last nites game. So STFU.

I see what you’re trying to do. And that is low !
