We are getting way off topic here. But, while we wait for a new thread—being a National Historic Landmark is irrelevant if an owner of a property wishes to demolish or significantly remodel it. Pitt 24, Duke 23. Huge game for Pitt as they have to get the momentum back. If they can win out, then at 9-3 they are in line for a decent bowl game against a good quality opponent. The key to this game is to eliminate the big plays they have been giving up on D and to generate a few big plays on O. To me the key to this season is who we can secure for next season and Hamlin and Sanders are the ones we need. More playmakers. There are just not enough guys on either side of the ball to make a game changing play (Boyd and Whitehead being the exceptions). And to be honest, Whitehead has made a lot of plays, but not an INT return, or such that we have all been waiting for. I also have to wonder what this team would have been like with Ibrahim healthy. We’ve all speculated on Connor, but I think RIs breakaway speed would have been a nice compliment to those running the ball now.

Duke has 23 seniors playing their last home game on senior day. We are beat up on the defensive line. Cutcliffe is one of my favorite coaches, but Duke is not as good as they have been the last couple of years. In the other hand Pitt is showing some troubling trends. I have no idea on this one. I’ll go 61-60 Pitt in 6 OTs.

Really depressing to see Pedo St and Harvard with the #10 and 11 rated hoops classes.

This one has me scratching my head. I feel if our offense shows up we take this game 31-27. If the offense continues to stumble then we are looking at a 36-24 type of score. It really all comes down to our offense and how they play (play call). Regardless, the family and I are heading up to Durham here in the next hr or two. We will be the family of four walking around the Duke campus in Pitt gear lol!

I like our chances, but this one can go either way. Cutcliffe has already publicly stated that Duke still has plenty to play for still. Pitt obviously does too. Whichever staff does a better job of rallying the troops will probably win. If Duke QB does end up going, Pitt absolutely has to pressure him and hit him hard and often.

If Pitt wins this game I think they will win at least one more and possibly win out. If they lose I really fear they are gonna lose out and hello 6-6 again. Really think this game is HUGE!

@FrankMD and pmdH2P – while a listing on the National Register of Historic Places doesn’t in and of itself prevent destruction, local and state historic preservation laws can and a listing on the National Register is often helpful to obtaining protection locally. That being said, even those can be overcome.

Without the two doubtful DL, Pitt will not be able to provide consistent pressure on the QB, which will end up costing the game.

Both of Pitt’s CBs and its MLB are not D1 players and Duke will take advantage just like NC and ND did. If they don’t recruit CBs taller than 5’9″ with slightly better than avg speed they will never be able to play against the big boys in the NCAA,
Pitt goes down 17 in the first half . . . . as usual by giving up 2-3 long passes and then loses by 4 with a failed 2nd half comeback . . . 35-31.
Might be different if Chaney finally tries to back Duke’s safeties off the line with some long pass attempts (hopefully caught this time) and does this on 1st or 2nd down instead of throwing in obvious passing situations.
Pitt’s DL was dominated by bigger better ND OL, but hopefully rises to the occasion against a more equal matchup against Duke.

Kind of a strange nickname don’t ya think. Who would want to be known as a Devil.

Not much of a Home Field advantage, as few at Duke have noticed much that the football team’s fortunes have changed quite substantially in Durham, having won 9 and 10 games the last 2 seasons.

Since there won’t be much noise directed at our guys by the sparse Duke crowd, they’ll have to have that Band of Brothers on the Road attitude be self-generated. So this is where a ‘into the game’ type coach like the Nard Dog should be of immense benefit.

We really need to come out fired up from the first snap and maintain that thruou the 1st half. As the last 2 games have been lost in the 1st half.

It would really help if Duke has to play their 2nd string QB, which really makes this a tough game prediction. As we don’t know at this point.

So I’ll make this simple. If Sirk doesn’t play Pitt wins….28-10. Or if Sirk plays at beginning and gets hurt in 1st quarter.

If Sirk plays the entire game, Pitt loses. 35-24.

Boston – He is the coach and CEO. The lack of talent and players and coaches and one guy named Smoke who hasn’t recruited a soul and another that I don’t know if he can tak or has a mouth. Jamie is responsible.

I agree – If I’m Barnes though – I’m going with an influx of cash and change in lieutenants . I really think Jamie is the right guy to lead the program – he just needs more talent. Better assistants and better players.

The last three classes are aweful. Basically Slim, Luther, maybe a future starter in Damon Wilson, a 350 lb Center, and another tweener in Corey Manigault.

It’s just not enough.

I think Pitt is 1-0 for games played on 11-14-15! Sirk is key. If he is out, I see a 30-17 victory. If he is in, I see a 38-35….victory. I see him as playing for sure.

Chaney ain’t putting up 55 ever – and I don’t think Jamie gets there tonight either.

Early in the Season I posted that the “BUMPS in the Road” were coming AFTER Georgia Tech… And they did.

That said… the Road for this Pitt Team is starting to SMOOTH out a bit.

Pitt’s best chance to win tonite against the Zag-nuts.

We have been hearing and saw in first game Dixon has been preaching a more aggressive defense, even installing a full court or 3/4’s court press, to create some turnovers leading to easy transition points.

Tonite provides a great opportunity to play that type of defense, as the Zag-nuts have an entire new backcourt, which should be susceptible to the Press.

We need to make this a transition type game, for if it gets into a halfcourt affair of slogball, their size will crush us underneath.

Attack their weakness, which is their new backcourt. Negate their strength. Our bigs are quicker so use that in transition as well.

Hopefully Sir Jamie will have the same thoughts and game plan in mind.

Hard to predict the FB game since their starting QB may be out. If he plays I think Duke will win due to Senior Day, but the game is going to be close either way.

I doubt though that Pitt can slow down the Zags offense. I just hope we can keep it within 10. Pitt’s M.O. though in both sports is get way behind in the first half and struggle to make up the difference in the 2nd half. Not good….

I’ve been expecting an unexpected laugher. Programs undergoing transformations show flashes of things to come (in the case of positive transformations). These happen against teams that are thought to be a little better. VT was one example. Duke should be another. Wish one were a home game, but that’s another demon.
