The Blather’s Pre-Game Watering Hole

Filed under: Uncategorized — Reed @ 4:13 am

Guys, we’ll meet at Bettis’ Grille before the Pitt win.

I’m leaving home now (5:00 am) and will get to Red 1 parking at about 10:30. One stop at another tailgate and I’ll be at Bettis’ by 11:30… I think.  Again, I’m 6’6″ tall, longer hair and I’m wearing a blue polo shirt with script “Blather” in gold on the front.  Scan heads and mine is the one sticking up.

This will be a good day all around I think.  I can’t wait to meet everyone and I think we’ll come out with a win… Hey, no matter the score any win is a good one right?

Hail to Pitt!

I’m envious. Hope everyone has a great time. Hail to Pitt!

Pitt has already beat YSU! In volleyball, swept them.
Hail to Pitt

Hail to Pitt.

Despite Bo Pelini… a talented group of Returning Starters… and a Penguin for a mascot… all signs point to PITT beating YSU and handing Pat Narduzzi an EMOTIONAL WIN on his first day on the job.

It will be a Big Story as the day rolls on.

But here’s a prediction that will make for an even BIGGER STORY and an ESPECIALLY SWEET Saturday for the PITT Faithful.

For the first time in more than 70 Years… TEMPLE pulls the upset and BEATS Penn State!!

Looking forward to a Very VERRRRRY Good Day.

Thank you doc for the good omen. POD, that would be too good. And Reed, hope to finally meet you and other fellow Blatherites today.

Welcome back football and my love/hate relationship with you! H2P

For those casual fans who live in the Burgh and still haven’t decided to catch the game at Heinz today, JUST DO IT!

RibFest, great weather, Narduzzi Era Begins. Come on down and start things out right! Hail to Pitt! The alternative, cut the lawn? Really?

in the P-G this morning: Today, Pelini will makes his debut as Youngstown State’s head coach at the same time Pitt’s Narduzzi makes his head-coaching debut. They will be separated as equals only by a football field for the first time since the 1984 Steel Valley Conference championship.

It was Mooney vs. Ursuline that day, with Narduzzi’s Ursuline squad laying a 35-0 beatdown on Pelini’s Mooney team.

Narduzzi made an impact early in that game, forcing a fumble on Mooney’s opening drive that started the avalanche of Ursuline points. He also sacked Pelini, a junior quarterback, a couple of times, as well as punting and playing tight end.

“He would’ve sold popcorn if we let him,” then-Ursuline coach Dick Angle said. “He never came off the field.”

I’m looking forward to seeing the impact HCPN has today against Bo. Good to great would be “neat”.

HTP!

Save me some roasted Penguin with a side of BBQ sauce.

By all accounts, the odds of YSU beating Pitt are slim to none. Well, slim showed up three years ago because former HCPC let slim onto the field.

Slim won’t be on the field today because our very own “Guard Dog” won’t let slim in the gate.

Hoping for a win today in front of a packed Heinz Field. There better not be more red in the crowd than Pitt colors. If so, bringing home a W will ease the attendance disappointment (for now).

Recruiting news:
Did you see the stats from the game Khaleke Hudson had last night? If his desire is to play both offense & defense – PN needs to say yes immediately. Secure the 412crew!

HTP! Heading to tailgate with friends and my wife. I won’t be at Bettis B&G today, but we ate at Ditka’s last night…considering AD’s place before we leave town.
