The Homecoming Script

Filed under: Football — Chas @ 12:48 pm

Brace yourselves…

and

Have at it on a Friday afternoon, everyone.

Reed, I’m not sure about the decision making process of getting rid of the script, but I do remember he was adamant that everyone start using Pittsburgh instead of Pitt. His reasoning was sound, that he wanted more of the community to take ownership of the college …. but on the other hand, I remember thinking that it was somewhat brash for him to come in and try to change an icon right away.

That also goes with the color scheme even though I don’t dislike the current shade of blue and gold being used.

Doesn’t take much to get folks excited, lol. Nice change, good for Pederson.

Also good news about the three recruits enrolling early.

Any news of new gear with script in current colors? Makes sense to cash in on this

Reed–You never bring someone back after they quit and then get fired by the organization they went to for incompetence.

In the military, once someone is relieved of command, do you bring them back to command another organization?

The script at Heinz

I might start to feel good about Pitt at Steeler Stadium. Let’s go PItt.

Interesting that the script will only be used on the helmets, “the Logo won’t be changed” and none of the other teams will get to use the “script” Duh? I guess they don’t want to spend the money to change all uniforms, maybe next year, keep up the pressure boys. I guess this also means no “Script” on the field, which I really would like to see.

Does anyone remember or know the history of the Script? when was it first used. When did the University of Pittsburgh become PITT for that matter? I know it goes way back, I’ve seen some old game programs.

I remember some new helmets and unis on National TV that were outstanding, not sure if it was the Dorsett or Marino era.

Reed has to tout the company line.

YES!!! IT’S ABOUT FREAK’N TIME!!! WHOOOOAAAA.

As for PD I agree with much of Reed’s points.

Although I will say he is a rockhead stubburn, and a terrible marketing person.

Notice he never went to Nebraska and changed their color and logos! He would not be alive to be with us today…

Pederson has done some great things, Pederson has done some terrible things. He hired Ben Howland, he has kept Jamie. We ended up in the ACC instead of the AAC. There’s a long of negatives too. But, today we get Pitt Script and I am grateful. Everyone here at the tailgate is buzzing with it and excited.

I still think the timing is off, and I do think there is more to the story. I suspect Gallagher played a role, and I would be shocked if the Rossi on-campus stadium article / reaction didn’t contribute.

Wish I could type in cursive…

It’s about time! Shout out to the Chancellor!!!

We need to capitalize on the momentum. Fear the SCRIPT!!!
