No truly significant changes from the first week. More like subtle adjustments to reality in the depth chart (PDF, p.3).
At running back Bennett is still listed as the starter, but James Conner is listed at number two rather than Malcolm Crockett. That’s the only change on the offense.
For the defense, Ejuan Price is not listed as “OR” at both DE spots. Now he’s only listed as the possible starter with Bryan Murphy. So David Durham has the coaches trust at the other DE spot. Mike Caprara is no longer listed behind Shane Gordon at middle linebacker. It is Mike Galambos. Jevonte Pitts is no longer listed on the 2-deep at both safety spots. Instead he is listed third at free safety behind Ray Vinopal and Cullen Christian. If Vinopal plays like he did last week, he’s going to repeat his fate from last year of not being seen again after two games.
The only other change is on kick returns. Jason Hendricks will not be back there with Lafayette Pitts. Carrying from the FSU game, it is Tyler Boyd back there. Sixteen freshmen or redshirt freshmen are on the 2-deep
im more concerned about houses game plan and play calling than the personnel right now. he has a stretch of games where he can really get his sh*t together so hopefully we see drastic improvement
head of house just in case game one was a one time
bump on the road.
and game 2 wont be a real test that should be a easy
game for any D.
but if at the end of game 3 if the D sucks then house most go this year before game game 4
Vick is the perfect QB to run that and Shady is the perfect RB.
This might start a new trend in the NFL, spread option read offenses. Might be what all the new rules are concerning where you can hit QB’s and other offensive players.
Imo, the Spread Option read is a lot more entertaining to watch than a West Coast offense that dinks & dunks it’s way down the field.
We shall see where this is all going. Both NFL favorites going down in flames tonite.
I like it,,, the Head of the House…..
….on a Silver Platter no doubt.
PITT is way to cheap to ever fire an asst. coach mid-season unless he did something like Toad Graham’s asst. coach did the other day. Well they might fire him and tell PC to make do before rehiring someone. On the cheap….of course. lol
Optimism abounds.
Hail to Pitt!
This week we should be able to masquerade as the FSU team over the Lobos. If the OL can protect Savage, we should be able to pick them apart like FSU did to us. Let Boyd loose this week both at the WR position and on kick returns, he is a weapon, use him!
I agree on getting Voytik on the field this week, he needs game time experience! He is just a play away from being our starting QB as well.
This team will grow a lot during the season. We are very, very young but are playing with heart and spirit! I liked the way they came out and punched FSU right in the mouth with our initial TD. It was the turnovers that really killed that momentum. Hopefully this week will be just the reverse. A solid victory will do much to instill confidence going forward for this new group of young guys.
BTW, Alaska was FANTASTIC! Hail to Pitt!
Hopefully enough real Pitt Fans show up and make noise. Should be a nice day. Practice will be tough today, supposed to hit 90 and high humidity.
Congrats to the Bucco’s and their new ace with a 1-0 shutout.
Don’t lose your head Caroline, Steelers in for a tough season. They can’t stop the run, or protect Ben. They are toast unless LeVeon Bell and Jarvis Jones both turn out to be immediate superstars.
Hard to believe we had Revis, Fitz, and Shady, three of the NFL’s superstars, shows that football is the ultimate team sport and you need more than one great player at a time. But it sure is fun to have at least one.
At least we won in a recruiting battle this week.
Hail to Pitt!
I’ll be at this Saturday’s Pitt game, driving up from DC for the weekend. Since it is supposed to be great weather for the weekend, I just might try to do a doubleheader and catch a Buco game on Saturday night after the Pitt game.
Lets hope that I’m a lucky charm for both clubs this weekend.
Hail to Pitt!
red shirt = freshman
true 1st year = true freshman
or year and eligibility
1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4 – 2/5 3/5 4/5 5/5 6/6
2. Price should be starting, imo. Undersized, yes, but much more athletic than either of the other 2.
3. Didn’t see anything that Durham did to warrant any kind of ‘trust’. Maybe his old man made a big contribution to Pitt or someting.
4. I thought Caprara was supposed to be the 2nd coming of Scott McKillop. Maybe not, maybe they move him to OLB. Galambos is a true frosh. huh
5. Like Boyd back there, however risky if ppl think kickoffs are injury prone.
6. Vinopal……a big meh (so far)
