So it can be a felony to pull a fire alarm when there is no emergency in New York? Good to know. Dion Lewis found that out by actions.

While staying at the Albany Hampton Inn, Dion and his brother Lamar went out for a good Saturday night, returning around 4 am Sunday. Unfortunately Lewis either left his key card in the room or lost it at one of Abany’s many hotspots. This left the Lewis boys stuck outside their hotel. Not even able to get into the lobby. Apparently they eventually got in and then…

Either Dion or Lamar Lewis then pulled the hotel’s fire alarm, waking dozens of patrons and prompting emergency crews to visit the hotel, police said.

Both brothers were charged with falsely reporting a fire, a felony, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.

The felony is a class E felony. New York’s lowest grade of felony. Still that allows the story to be “Eagles and former Pitt player charged with felony!!!”

Extra kicker, part of why Lewis was in town was to speak to the Troy Boys and Girls Club, “where he was expected to talk to roughly 100 kids about ‘the value of working to the best of their abilities both on and off the playing field.’ ” Needless to say, the event was canceled.

This was Dion Lewis’ first screw-up. I think we all know who is really responsible for this. Lewis was in New York when it happened. Buffalo is also in New York. Dave Wannstedt is a coach for the Buffalo Bills. I think we can all connect the dots.

Lewis has already issued a generic apology through the Eagles.

“I want to apologize to my family, the Albany community, the Eagles organization and fans, and to the NFL for my involvement in an incident this past weekend,” Lewis said. “It was never my intention to cause any public alarm or damage any property. I am sorry for any embarrassment and inconvenience that my actions have caused.”

Lewis said he would continue to conduct himself “with the high moral, ethical and professional standards that I have my entire life and of which so many others rightly expect of me. Because the matter is still in the hands of the court system, I cannot comment any further.”

The Eagles issued their own statement saying how seriously they and Lewis take this. Seriously, this is serious stuff. It isn’t dumb, stupid actions. It’s all serious.

No one seriously thinks he will face career repercussions for being drunk and stupid. Nor does anyone expect that he will actually end up with a felony on his record once the matter is settled. Heck, since it isn’t even clear that Dion Lewis was the one who pulled the fire alarm, his brother Lamar might just take the hit.

I blame Wanny (35%) and Tino (65%)

Is it okay to blame Fraud Graham?

One of those “I can’t believe I was that stupid” moments where you know seconds later… And I blame the West Virginia education system…

“Yellow Jpurnalism” at the turn of the 1890’s was nothing like the sensationalist media breaking news reports of the modern media. “Just sayin” Dion Sanders is NOT a criminal, but the story makes headlines. There is absolutely nothing a celebrity can do igcognito. If his.her name is known, people will pay to read or hear of a juicy scandal. My o my it must be great fun to report and trumpet the mistakes or “sins” of others. Dion has been a will be again, a credit to humanity. He is already considered a gifted gridder. Rev. My order of blame:

1) Fraud Graham
2) PSU for not joining the Big East
3) The Big East
4) WVU for couch burnings
5) ND for not joining the Big East in football
6) Joe Paterno for so much that he deserves his own list
7) No on campus football stadium
8) Lack of 1970’s & 1980’s color scheme in current uniforms
9) Paul Chyrst lack of 4 & 5 star recruits
10) Paul Hacket
11) Johny Majors Round 2
12) Not enough fans in the seats on game day
13) Big 12
14) Big 10
15) Pac 10 or Pac 12
16) FSU & Clemson talking about leaving ACC
17) Paul Zeise for not updating his blog enough
18) All Pitt QB’s since Dan Marino
19) PSU
20) Pitt AD

I knew Dion when he was on campus in Oakland and he was a total Dbag in all seriousness.

Really was.

Comment by H.LandPitt 07.10.12 @ 12:39 pm

Two jack*sses. Shame on them. What in the hell were they doing out at 4:00 A.M., when everyone else was sleeping, in the first place?

I agree with H.LandPitt.

No, he’s not a criminal per se, in what we believe to be a real criminal. Murder, Rape, Assault and Battery, Arson and a few others etc. etc. I understand that.

However, it’s not a joke either. If you really wanted to get serious about it,

A.) it pulls resources away from what could be other serious issues across the city.
B.) Someone could have been injured trying to rush out of the hotel.

Is he a murderer, no, of course not, but I’m not gonna chalk it up to just “boys will be boys” either.

It was a stupid jackass move, and if he gets a little bad publicity and some fines, I have no problem with it.

It was an

@mediumpanther. Great list. Disagree on #18, always felt Congemi and Van Pelt were excellent qb’s after Marino.

Comment by Dan 07.10.12 @ 2:44 pm

#21) Ron Cook never being fair to Pitt!

Comment by Dan 07.10.12 @ 2:46 pm

@ Dan…..Thank you and I agree about your QB’s. I’d add Palko to that list too. He was a very good college QB. Your # 21 is a good one.

22) Walt Harris not playing Billy West cause he wanted to go to class and was late showing up to practices.

Comment by Medium Panther 07.10.12 @ 3:55 pm

I think Rutherford was our best QB of this millennium (over Palko) although it is certainly debatable … plus he had Fitz to throw to

Comment by wbb 07.10.12 @ 4:25 pm

I blame Bozik.

Comment by TX Panther 07.10.12 @ 4:51 pm

wbb, Rutherford is one of my favorites post 1990. Pulling the fire alarm = stupid. Two adults staying up late = benefits of being an adult.

As far as where to put the blame on Dion’s Lewis’s jack*ss wake-up call via a fire-alarm, he just needs to look into a mirror. Fraud Graham had nothing to do with this stupid stunt.

Comment by MariettaMike 07.10.12 @ 6:25 pm

Good to see some humor during the doldrums of Summer. Great list Medium. I don’t agree with all of them but I bet you feel better getting it off your chest.

Bring on September!! HTP

I blame it on Carl Depasqua.

Comment by SFPitt 07.10.12 @ 10:31 pm

I knew Billy West when he was on campus. He was a good dude. Also he was an engineering major. Not your typical football player major. You actually do need to go to class for that!

Comment by JCE 07.10.12 @ 10:37 pm

@JCE

Agreed, Billy West was a class act from everything I’ve heard, and the one time I had face to face dealings with him.

Comment by Medium Panther 07.10.12 @ 10:41 pm

Dan and “TT”, I agree that pulling the fire alarm was an act of senselessness. What I was trying to intimate was that everything which is an abnormal act(by a “celebrity”) seems to be picked up and trumpeted by the media. Gee, just think what fun we clergypersons could have if we went public with what we know. AND, we could name nemes, as well. My advice to Dion is “GET A LIFE”. Rev. George in Columbus

Comment by Rev. George Mehaffey 07.11.12 @ 8:57 am

Rev … I was making humor of the situation. I was more annoyed that someone questioned why two adults (brothers no less) were up until 4am – they are adults. No DUI’s, domestic violence, drugs, prostitutes…I agree it shouldn’t be newsworthy.

Comment by Tossing Thabeets 07.11.12 @ 12:53 pm

I think the Eagles should pick up Ray Graham and complete the Pitt RB Trifecta in the NFL. Vick, Graham, Shady, and Dion is pretty scary when you think about what eah of them can bring to the table.
