So… everyone happy to have a wrecked bracket?

I sure am. There is nothing more fun than seeing those huge upsets in the first round — as long as it isn’t your team.

My theory that my picks would improve now without Pitt in the NCAA Tournament has been rather effectively destroyed. I’m way down on the list at 84th. My Final Four picks are still intact, but I’ve already lost 3 of 8 Elite Eight teams. I going to need a new “theory” to excuse this pathetic performance.

In the first round, there were a possible 320 points available. The initial leaders are D Morningstar Hook Shothumza0822 6, and dbkohan 1 with 250 points. They are in the 99.3d percentile at the moment in the complete ESPN bracket challenge. Which is good enough to be 46,842 overall. But it is still wide open considering there were a couple Final Four teams eliminated from the entries.

K-State and Cuse kick off in a few minutes in Pittsburgh. Should be a good one.

Best tourney in years….If there were any drunk Hoopies in Pittsburgh the day WVUlgar got humiliated by the Zags, they crawled back in their holes quickly…WVUlgar did not deserve a bid and ruined any benefit of the doubt from the CMT for future years.

How does Duke look?
Mizzou? Stink.
WVUlgar? Stank.
ND? Stunk.

The brackets are about what happens when teams actually play. Think how bad college football would be if it used the BCS system. 8 teams would be granted license based on the color of their uniforms and a team from 20 years ago.

March Madness is sane. It is the BCS garbage that is maddening!

Oh!!! I forgot! College football IS BAD!

God Bless this tourney!

I saw the other day that jamie dixon is targeting a juco shooting guard. I dont get it. I think its blatantly obvious that at this point pitt needs a true 4, not ANOTHER 2. Whyd they offer chris jones if they were just going to go after another 2? Pitt will have two true 2s in jones and johnson, plus players like jj moore and durand johnson who are serviceable at the position. Unless jamie dixon is planning on changing the way the team plays, ie going with a bigger lineup with zanna or taylor at the 4, the closest thing to a jamie dixon 4 that pitt has is lamar patterson. It blows my mind that dixon isnt going after a true 4 now that chris jones committed. I mean, sheldon jeter would commit on the spot if dixon offered and hes perfect for the spot. Hes 6’8″, athletic, can shoot, pass, put the ball on the floor, and has a great work ethic. His build is very similar to bernard james of fsu, although james is a bit bigger. Again, it just blows my mind.

Pitts major problem this year is that they had not ecruited a legitimate center since 2007. They had attempted to converted forwards to centers which does not work at this level.

The recruiting failure caused a problem of proportions we will never know except a trashed 2011-2012 year. Perhaps Taylor would have have made the transition to college if he played his natural position. I think he would of at least surpassed Biggs as a PF. No one will argue Taylor had any sucsess offensively against big

Perhaps Khem would have stayed if he did not se the same fate for him that Taylor suffered.

Pk, obviously he doesn’t believe the guards on the team are up to par. Maybe he’s thinking about pushing a few out. He may also be thinking about changing his style and getting ready for the ACC or just recruiting the best players available. He’s had 10 years of success before this season and I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Comment by Tossing Thabeets 03.18.12 @ 10:53 am

PK, the only explanation I believe is that he doesn’t think a freshman 4 can step right in and play, and he is better off with Zanna ad Taylor sharing the the PF next year.

Yes, Jeter would seem to be a good candidate but obviously not according to Dixon … of he would ave offered by now. I certainly don’t think Jeter is big strong enough right now for the 4 .. and not even sure he is 6’8 … more like 6’6 1/2

Comment by wbb 03.18.12 @ 10:54 am

most if not all recruiting services have Jeter as a 3 … where both Patterson and Moore are ..and D Johnson may be if he is not quick enough to defend at the 2

just my 2 cents

Pitt got its first 2013 commitment today. Scott orndoff committed. Hes 4 stars, one of the highest rated tight ends in 2013 and a top 10 pa prospect. Not a bad way to start off the class

Comment by Pk 03.18.12 @ 1:48 pm

Orndoff to Pitt is better news than how my bracket is turning out right now (tune in to tjeverso1 if you wanna see a winner)

Comment by Timmeh 03.18.12 @ 2:02 pm

Great news about Orndoff

Still rooting for BE but I luv Georgetown losing to an ACC team … remember Chas telling us about the BE tourney when Hoya fans were chanting ‘NIT’ and Pitt fans responded with ‘ACC’

Even in down year, I expect BE to have 25% of the teams in Sweet 16

Comment by wbb 03.18.12 @ 2:13 pm

PK–the way I see it, the problem wasn’t the lack of a 4, specifically. Rather, it was the lack of any muscle inside (it could come from either a 4 or a 5). Notice how much more effective Nas Robinson was at the 4 when he played next to Gary McGhee? Either Taylor or Zanna (or a combination of the two) will make a very nice 4 next season–If, and only if, Steve Adams is the real deal and dominates inside the way D’Juan did.
