Have to do another open thread. Responsible for picking up kids from school and taking them to afterschool activities today. DVR time once more.

Hoyas are playing better than they were when Pitt took them out in late-January. Really don’t know what Pitt will look like today. Will Nas and Tray be okay playing a second straight day? Can Pitt play well for a second straight day? Is Pitt in the head of Georgetown?

Game should be sometime around 2:30 on ESPN.

God bless, Omar

well omar, if you love pitt basketball as much as you say you do, I would think you would be as disappointed and frustrated as I am with the lack of success in the big east tournaments and the nccaa tournament. In 10 years we have one BE title and 0 final fours. 40 teams have made the final four during that time period why can’t pitt? At least I can recognize that just making the tournament isn’t the same as winning it. I sure your thrilled with our one tournament win this year!

Pitt has won 2 Big East Tournaments in the last 10 years. Pitt also advanced to the championship game in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2008. I will count that for you, 7 out of 8 years Pitt advanced to the tourney final. Pitt also earned 2 #1 seeds in the last 3 NCAA Tournaments. They advanced to the Final 8 in 2008-2009 and came within a basket of winning and advancing to the Final 4.

The last three years have ended in disappointment, none more than this year, but that isn’t a reason to conclude that Jamie Dixon can’t coach. He is obviously a competent head coach and the program will recover, maybe even next season. I am willing to give Jamie Dixon the benefit of the doubt.

Sometimes basketball isn’t about X’s and O’s, it’s about the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s. Pitt didn’t have a lot of talent this year. That is Jamie Dixon’s fault, but I think he may have corrected the issue with this next recruiting class.

I’m like to thank this mediocre Pitt basketball season for aligning with an El Nino year.

Seriously, I’d be uncontrollably crying at random moments from seasonal & sports depression if the Northeast had a winter last year’s AND we were mediocre to bad.

Dixon & Co. got me through the winters of 2008-2009 and 2010-2011 big time. And- when we disappoint in March, at least it’s spring.

So- here’s to a helluva winter for NYC next year!
H2P!

Good thing we got the freshmen laden Johnnies in first round, cause I seriously doubt we could have beaten anyone else.
Pathetic performance yesterday. Dixon changed his rotation for what reason?
Pitt’s best player the last 2 weeks or so of regular season was JJ Moore. Then why did he only play 17 minutes against the Johnnies and only have 3 points against G-Town. To give Gibbs & Nas a senior send off in MSG ?

Questions abound !

omar, you are correct 2 big east champ. in 10 years. you also proved my point as well, look at the great positions we’ve been in over the years and we still can’t get over the hump. One basket away doesn’t matter..over the past 10 years, the final four is littered with big east teams. No PITT. Jaimie Dixon is a competent yes, but I’m starting to wonder if he can get us over the hump.
