LiveBlog: Pitt-Iowa

I will be following with radio, twitter, hook and crook. One of my closest friends and fellow season ticket-holder is getting married today.

I know what happened. He figured this was going to be a 3:30 game. A meeting between a couple BCS teams. A better than average non-con match-up. Surely it would get some love. Evenly matched teams. A better thing to see than UNC-UVA or Washington-Neb or some of the other 3:30 games. It would be perfect. Bring in all his friends for the wedding. Get it done early and get some of the reception stuff out of the way and then we could all just be together and watch the game later in the afternoon. He didn’t count on Pitt and Iowa both being low in the expectations, and relegated to a noon start. Especially in a Central Time Zone.

Needless to say, if the ceremony doesn’t conclude by noon, I will be looking like a Secret Service reject with an earbud in place to listen to the game.

Not to worry about this liveblog. It is covered.

Luke returns for another season of being the man on the scene to keep the conversation going. He will have plenty of help as the boys from Pitt Script will be helping as well in an old-school Marvel Comics crossover event.

Blame is two-fold.

If Tito were even REMOTELY capable of running Graham’s offense, a few more of those failures turn into TDs, and we start talking about how great Pitt is this year and how much fun it was watching Graham let them run the score up.

But, Toddy should know his qb well enough to know that he isn’t capable of running this offense, and therefore should have tried to run more clock in the 4th quarter.

Navy Panther wins the “backhanded complement of the week” award! LOL.

Sunseri is so bad I cant even comprehend it. He has great weapons around him on offense and even if the line plays bad, this offense is supposed to be fast. Sunseri is not fast.

The bottom line in my opinion is the old concept called the “Peter Principle” Dorthoy this is not Tulsa but Graham in my opinion is to arrogant to change from his insane delusion of sanpping the ball within 18 seconds. If you look at the statistics 80% of the time Pitt’s offense was off the field in under two minutes despite scoring 27 points. No defense can be effective under this system. Further he will continue to blame the failure on the players. Consequencly defections of excellent athelets will be seen next year. Andrew Luck could be our starting QB but under this system we would still lose 2 or more games. This is the dilemma incompent players graduate incompetent coahes just signed can drag a program into a dark hole. possession wins the ball game. I would like for Graham to display some humility, lose some weight and get rid of the Marine flat top.

DRW, losing “two or more games” is a negative…? Really, is going 9-3 a failure now?

We won’t see any mass defections and probably none save those who just can’t play in this system at all. Myers may go and I’d think that was a good move on his part.

If you feel that possessinons win the game then how do you point to Graham for that failure. Sunseri blew five chances to extend drives in the 4th quarter alone:

1) 3rd & goal: Sunseri scramble and fumble for a four yard loss; FG (those 4 points would have given us a win)

2) 3rd & 3; Pass incomplete
4th & 3; Pass incomplete

3) 3rd & 13; Eight yard completion (when we needed 13!); Punt

4) 2nd & 6; Interception.

That isn’t on Graham’s shoulders – that is Sunseri’s failing alone. You can point to the need to run more time off between plays and I’ll not disagree with you, but that pales in comparison to getting more plays per drive and possibly scoring points… especially from the Iowa three yard line!!
