Downtime

Filed under: Admin — Chas @ 3:37 pm

Finally, sort of, slowly. You probably noticed this site was unavailable today. Or perhaps you caught me complaining on Twitter. The site had a second straight day of server issues.

This was a miserable issue — I’m told — and is still being worked on. So the site may go right back down.

Needless to say, I’m definitely looking forward to going to the Map Room for a beer and a chance to meet some other Pitt folk in the Cleveland area tonight.

Interesting, Kolby Gray is bailing for Baylor

Comment by Coach Ditka 05.20.11 @ 10:04 am

Makes sense that he’s leaving. They gave him a shot at QB, didnt work out. He sees incoming transfers in his position and realizes he’s not going to play. Gives his ol’ buddy Phil Bennett a call and finds out he’s got a better shot at playing. Good luck Kolby!

another WR, Josh Brinson, a JC transfer and speed-burner, is coming to Pitt. No 2012 HS commits yet but 4 transfers (2 WRs and 2 DBs) so far, and the WRs both may be able to play this fall.

story in PG – Trenton Coles a junoir at Clairton has wos won his second staight WPIAL 100 and 200 meters title, and set a meet record at the 200. He is also WR/DB who has offers fro Pitt and Wisconsin with interest from a few others … but Pitt is current favorite. Except for Desimon Green who baled to Tx Tech, Pitt has done well in getting commits from Clairton

Missed you yesterday

Wow 3 days with no Pitt Blather that was tough!

0/zero/nadda HS commits yet.

Does the idea of running one’s tush off all game long turn off potential recruits? Is the no huddle foreign to Western PA’ers?

I don’t know. But maybe.

Nice putting a face to the name at the Map Room, Chas. Keep up the great work and I’ll set something up for us later in the summer at Balantines.

Isn’t there a place called the Map Room in Regent Square, also?

Comment by Jeff 05.21.11 @ 8:49 pm

Yes that’s exactly what I thought…Chad do you visit Regent Square?

Comment by Marco 05.22.11 @ 9:47 am

no, this was in downtown Cleveland, I think – (don’t know the area real well)

SPOILER ALERT,

Phil Steele’s early top 30 is up and Pitt made an appearance at #27

Your first look at Phil Steele’s Pitt pages can be found here.

I see Steele has Pitt picked for #1 in the BE which may be significant since he was one the few that didn’t pick Pitt last year.

FWIW, I agreed with him last year as I said all along I didn’t understand Pitt being favored over WVU and UConn since they both had 7 more returning starters than Pitt. However, not sure I agree with him this year because despite Pitt having a lot of talent to work with, I believe there will be a big adjustment especially on offense … but if course hope I’m wrong

Don’t know if anyone cares, but Pitt Men’s Bball made the NCAA top 10% academic honors.

Comment by dugdog 05.22.11 @ 5:49 pm

Nice wbb. Yes, dugdog, that is great to seat. Hey, preseason rankings are meaningless, but, I have to say, if they’re meaningless, I’d rather be a meaningless #27 than a meaningless #101. Another magazine has them #37. Again, I know all about pre season rankings. It is nice to see that we haven’t fallen off the map after the Hayward fiasco!!! Remember, when we, including me, thought Pitt football was imploding.

Enjoying some summer weather, but, can’t wait till September!!!
