Updating Blather in NYC

Flight information is set. Transportation from Newark to the city is set. Hotel is confirmed. The Nike fashion show is at 10 am on Wednesday. The only question mark is whether the plane is on time.

With the advice of SilverPanther in NYC, we are going to meet at the Spring Lounge Tuesday night around 7. It’s a decent location near the subway, and a solid draft beer selection.

Hoping there’s a good turnout to talk Pitt football, basketball, lost weekends in Oakland and anything else.

Just find the people that answer to the phrase, “Mark May will drop-kick Lou Holtz this year.”

Lost weekends in Oakland? I remember those.

Something else we’ve lost…just drove through Oakland the other day after softball – CJ Barney’s is now a Dunkin Donuts. WTF???

No Sanctuary, no Zeldas, no Attic, no Beehive, and now no CJ’s (or Boomerangs, or whatever it’s been called recently). Even Caleco’s is now a restaurant…

that’s so cool you got invited Chas. I’m sure you’ll have good pics and notes for us Wednesday

Tuesday in NYC just got a whole lot more, uhhh… blatherly..?.?.?… Uh, yeah. Anyway, hope this place works out well. Tried to choose a location near bunch of subway lines and within stumbling distance of Chas’ hotel. If you know this place, its’ sometimes called the “shark bar”. If not, you’ll see why… I should be there around 8pm. I’ll be the one in the sport coat with patches on the elbow, eye glasses with neck chain, and smoking a pipe. You can’t miss me.

” I’ll be the one …smoking a pipe.”

Silver, if you see Mayor Bloomberg coming thru the door, you better take your pipe and quickly hide in the restroom.

LOL, damn I actually posted that! Inside joke with a friend of mine about “typical alumni events”. No offense to anyone who resembles that description. Played a double-header in the sun yesterday and then had a bunch of beers afterwards. HTP.

Spring Lounge – It can’t possibly get any better than having PBR on tap and Schaefer in the can! Just like old times!

LOL

From a local:

There is a very cool spot on the corner of Spring and Sullivan – two blocks East – called the Soho room. Nice corner barroom with friendly staff.

Also a great Pizza place called Ben’s one block further east on Spring bet Thompson and Bway.

Tried to pick a place closer to more train lines than that. I had no idea where everyone’s coming from/ going home to on a Tuesday night. Also, Lombardi’s is close by if we want to get a pie.

But hey, there’s a ton of places in Soho. As I’ll be running behind, I’ll catch up wherever you guys end up.

Matt, WTF?!

Don’t douche-up on us…..

Are you sticking around for the Utah game??
Are there any Pitt bars in the city? I tried to look last year but didnt really find any consensus answers. With so much anticipation this season the last thing I wanna do is watch the game with my three (yes, three) UPS roommates.
